and you would have to assume some of the top RPI teams in the AAC will drop down having to play ECU, USF and Tulane. The other night UC won their game by 51 and dropped a few spots. Tulane has a lower RPI than FD.

Temple - Tulane x2, USF x2 and ECU x2.
Houston - Tulane x2, USF x1 and ECU x2
Cincinnati - Tulane x2, USF x2 and ECU once. Xavier will be the only game that could give them a nice RPI bump.
UCF - Tulane x1, USF x2 and ECU x2
SMU - Tulane x2, USF x1 and ECU x2
Memphis - Incarnate Wood, Tulane x2, USF x2 and ECU x1
Connecticut - Tulane x1, USF x2 and ECU x2

I agree that basketball has to improve but I look at Kenpom more than RPI.

18. Cincinnati.
35. SMU
51. Houston.
73. UConn
84. Memphis
85. Temple
92. UCF
135. Tulsa

Nobody else in the 150.

I still this is likely a three bid league and maybe fourth team can sneak in too. Cincinnati and SMU are probably the most likely to make the tournament because they should get 13 conference wins or more. Temple needs to get to 11 or 12 wins because they played a great non-conference schedule. Yes, they picked up some bad losses but they did win the NIT-Season tip off games FSU and WVU. Houston also picked some decent wins and so far has avoided a bad loss. Memphis has to beat South Carolina and get to 12 or 13 league wins. UConn has to beat Auburn and Georgetown and get to at least 12 conference wins to back in the at-large conversation, the only other way to there for them if continue to lose non-conference games is to dominate the league or win the autobid. UCF needs to get healthy and win 13 conference games to get in the conversation.

I see three our four NCAA teams and two or three NIT bids in the group.

I agree completely. Unfortunately, I'm not sure it ever will. Here's why:

There are 7 schools right now who take basketball seriously: Cincy, UConn, Memphis, Temple, Houston, Tulsa, SMU. I know UCF is having a good year, but they don't have the track record or tradition yet to make me believe that they take basketball seriously. They hired a great coach, MJ's kids went there, Tacko is huge...that's about it.

NOW, here's why I think the bottom will always be horrific. Tulane, ECU, USF literally care about baseball and women's hoops more than men's hoops. Men's basketball is the 4th most important sport there, at best. It's the same way that these three are frustrated at UC for having terrible women's hoops, and do you see that changing? ever?

Bottom line: Get some more help from a school like Wichita State that cares about bball. There's no reason the AAC should be the 8th best conference year in and year out and hoping for some magic to happen in order to get 4 bids. 4 bids should be the expectation every year, and we should ALWAYS be above the A-10 due to having a higher profile and more known national teams.

One way to better than the A-10 is to take a couple of their better teams. This conference with Wichita State, VCU, and Dayton becomes a 5 to 7 bid league and right back in the conversation with the Big East, ACC, Big Ten, Big XII, and PAC-12. Right now the league is hanging with A-10, Mountain West, and WCC in the second tier of high majors.

That there is pretty ugly for a school that thinks it is too good for the AAC. Add the football record and you have to wonder if Tulane has a better upside.

You always have more up side when you are at the bottom Rimshot

Seriously though , UConn will be competitive and in the running for league titles 9 years out of 10 . I'm not so convinced they finish as low as 9-9 this year . And the way things go with them, they will win the conference tourney and make it to the final 4
