What's wrong with him saying that? Isn't he supposed to praise new members?
My biggest chuckle came when he started to name all of the great things that Big South football has accomplished, and most of it was by a team that is no longer a part of the conference.
The SoCon has a 95 year old tradition of doing just that
I thought about that, I figured the conference was bigger than that but I guess not. I know a few Citadel fans that love to reminisce on how they used to play in the same conference as Clemson and SC 60+ years ago but at some point you need to live in the present.

Division 1 Football Teams by state
The list has Birmingham-Southern on that list (State of Alabama) but they dropped down to D-III around 10-ish years ago. I would be surprised if that's the only exception...obviously, the list is quite outdated.
South Carolina is lower too

Unless you are MVFC. We lost Eastern Illinois. Gained Youngstown State and Western Kentucky. Lost Western Kentucky. Added North Dakota State and South Dakota State.

I think it will be like trying to replace App State, Georgia Southern, and Elon with East Tennessee State, Mercer, and VMI for the SoCon. ETSU and Mercer were startups, and VMI hasn't been competitive since the Washington administration.
Anyway good for the Camels. I thought Chants fans may have found this interesting.
(Campbell, BTW, is a little under an hour south of Raleigh. It is otherwise in the absolute middle of nowhere, except for a few very small towns nearby.)
Being born, raised, and still living in one of those "very small towns nearby" I think I'm qualified to chime in on this. Campbell is located in an unincorporated village, Buies Creek, in Harnett County. It isn't in the middle of nowhere. Harnett County use to be very rural but now is as much a bedroom community for surrounding urban areas to the north and south. It is one of the fastest growing counties in the state with about 130,000 residents. It is a part of the Raleigh/Durham/Cary (Triangle) Metropolitan Area. Buies Creek is 30-45 minutes from Raleigh and 30-45 minutes from Fayetteville. The campus is 10 miles from interstates 95 and 40. It is easy to get to from all directions and close to most anything.
Hey I graduated from ASU and love Boone, but Boone is much more located in the middle of nowhere than Buies Creek. It is much further from any major airport, city etc. than Campbell. Of course there is nothing wrong with being in the middle of nowhere.

Wow what a cheap shot. What exactly do you find deficient at Campbell?
Their sports facilities have been significantly upgraded in recent years. The baseball facility is fairly new and will have expanded seating and a new surface this spring. The basketball arena was built just a few years ago and is top notch. In fact Campbell hosted the Big South basketball tourney this year after they needed to relocate it at the last minute. It was a big success. The football stadium is small but less than ten years old and can be easily expanded as the need arises.
On the academic side Campbell is one of the top private schools in the state. They have a law school that in most years has a higher percentage passing rate on the bar exam than UNC CH or Duke. They have a very prestigious Trust Management program and Pharmacy school and divinity school. They recently established engineering, Physicians Assistant, nursing and most importantly Medical schools.
