Opening lines for SBC Bowls on 5dimes
Obviously they are early lines subject to change (as evidenced by the extra 10 in juice -120) but here is what they have:

Arkansas State +7 vs UCF
App St pk vs Toledo
Ulala +2 1/2 vs USM
Troy -3 1/2 vs Ohio
Idaho +10 1/2 vs Colorado St
South Alabama vs Air Force no line yet

The line on the Idaho game is probably too low. Colorado State is playing out of their minds right now. It's going to take a flawless effort to get a W.

I've give Troy vs Ohio a pickem. And whatever the line is for USA/AF it will be too low.

Air Force will be the favorite over South Alabama. I recommend anyone who knows anything about USA to take that line.

I'm thinking that Troy wins this game by two TD's. 3.5 is pretty generous to Ohio.

Troy has not been the same since the APP game. I'm not sure we still have that "edge". Hopefully, the time off before the bowl game will be enough to get it back. Honestly, we lost some of that edge after the Idaho game (game five). We took the bye week and Neal Brown said our players weren't practicing well and had been "feeling themselves" all week after going 4-1 and playing Clemson close.

We looked lethargic vs ARKST and GS where both of their squads we're amped to the moon. Play calling was terrible in both games. The GS linemen were carrying their players on their shoulders after they scored touchdowns and we looked lost. If we play with the Troy "Edge", we can win this one going away. Also, some people are underestimating Ohio because they lost to Texas State. No one knew what the bobcats were going to run.

Senior offensive lineman, it wasn't because they were playing Troy. For all of Summers faults as a head coach, i'm sure being a players coach isn't one of them. They didn't have an opportunity to go Bowling so i'm sure the seniors came out with more motivation knowing that was going to be their last game for sure.

Being amped usually doesn't win or lose a game for you though. It may have an affect at the start but Troy lost to Georgia Southern during the week. Their game plan wasn't effective and Southern finally played to their available talent.

I suspect that two weeks to regroup and have extra practices will help the team. The end of the semester is also always a good mood lifter.

arky state should probably be a little higher-10ish
I would have thought Louisiana would have been a bigger dog. At least a TD
Troy makes sense.
No idea about AppSt or USA

Home field advantage is built into these lines. Vegas considers this a home game for us.

Just from my observation a pick em is a good way to look at the App vs Toledo match up. Toledo runs that fast paced wide open offense with a mobile QB that has caused problems for App (think stAte last year and Miami and Akron this year). On the other hand, I expect App's running game and balance to give Toledo problems too.

Toledo's QB isn't really that mobile. He isn't a statue but he's not going to be running the read option.

Home field advantage is built into these lines. Vegas considers this a home game for us.

Home games at 3.5 HFA for CFB and 3 for NFL are just averages of numbers spanning a wide margin of variables. Examples: Bama's HFA is more like 5.5 and Western Michigan's is more like 2.0. New Orleans Saints' HFA is more like 4.5 and Jacksonville Jaguars' is more like 2.5. If you're betting games, beware of these variables. Start with average home game ticket sales and types of turf the visiting team needs to adjust to (if applicable) and go from there.

She's still butt hurt that Louisiana whipped his team and broke their little streak!

Haha.

Whipped?

The Cajuns won on the scoreboard, which is ultimately all that counts, but ULL got their asses "whipped" all over their home field that day.

1st downs 28 - 15
Total yards 521 - 292
Passing yards 393 - 242
Rushing yards 128 - 50 (The prophet got demoted to a small cult leader)

Unfortunately, for Red Wolf fans, our offense's ineptness in the red zone, kept this game from being a blowout in the Red Wolves' favor.

But, the Cajuns found a way to win, and I salute them for that. That's football. Sometimes, the most dominant team on the field does not win on the scoreboard.

I''d be careful about that. AFA is an option team. But USA hasn't been blown out this year at all. We've lost one game this year by more than that spread (15 points to Ga Southern).
