If we win, can we finally claim a CUSA championship?

After looking at the forecast for the next two weeks, a trip to South Florida will be a welcome escape from the freezing temperatures. I'm booked and ready.

Y sources: Western Kentucky's Jeff Brohm has accepted an offer to be the next football coach at Purdue. Story to come.

Relevant for Memphis fans: "It’s unclear as of Monday morning who will coach WKU in the Dec. 20 Boca Raton Bowl."

These type of things are what ruin a lot of the bowl games.. Most teams that lose their Coaches before the bowl games are not the same and usually don't perform very well!! This takes a little luster out of the game because if we beat WKU they will now have an excuse as to why they lost, albeit a good one!!

It looks like the defensive coordinator will be the acting coach.

AAC bowl tie-ins are horrible. There's not even one decent bowl for the champion if they miss out on the NY6 slot.

Temple is playing a 6-6 Wake Forest team that's on a three game losing streak? What a complete and total joke. That's the draw the league champion gets?

Absolutely spot on!!

I would rather play Western KY. That is really sobering.

Given the league's ratings during the season I expect to see some movement in our bowls. ESPN is losing potential ratings.

To clarify...

We came in tied for 5th in the conference. The AAC put Houston at 5th and us at 6th based upon Houston's better regular season record - and contrary to the head-to-head. As the 6th place team, we get Boca. That's it - end of story.

The two AAC vs P5 opponents are Wake and South Carolina. They're both ranked in the 80's. There is no respect to be gained from beating either. We will have better tv ratings than either of those games. WKU is ranked similar to us in the 30's. Much better team and everyone knows it.

AAC bowls could definitely be better. We need a high visibility bowl for the champ. But we have the best situation of any of the G5.

Agreed - most years the AAC champ will be the G5 representative for a NYD game (was really hoping Western Mich. would choke Friday, oh well). Having said that, I hope the conference is working to make sure our champ lands at a better bowl going forward. It might be difficult to lift all of the bowl tie-ins to a better position, but we should at least have a better landing spot for the champ. I'm sure this will be part of the new package Aresco & team are/will be working on going forward, along with improved TV $'s.

Dear Steve Erhart,

How would you like to have the conference champion of the AAC in the Liberty Bowl?

RE: Boca Raton Bowl it is
The Pinstripe Bowl was originally a BEast bowl. They were close to a deal with the AAC about keeping it after the split. It pays $2M - which is $650k than our highest payout. Cold weather game, but within our footprint and still a destination city. Send the champ there vs. the B10 or ACC.

But they went with the ACC until 2019.

Though solidly in the AAC footprint, it doesn't pay much more than our current Las Vegas and Cure bowls pay. To make a step-up, need to get Gator, Russell Athletic, or Pinstripe.

He doesn't because it's all about $$$$ and typically the SEC / other P5 fan base is going to bring in more bodies.

It was a pretty cool bowl back when it was the CUSA champ vs. the MWC champ but they ditched that.

I think the average attendance post champ v champ matchup is only 3k or so more than in the champ v champ format. I'm guessing TV dictates it.
