Thanks! It has been tough sledding for the team this year but they never threw in the towel and managed to become bowl eligible.
And they did prove the naysayers wrong - including idiotic columnists :).
Just want to represent the ACC in the post season!

So to the BC fan(s) here, do you still want to show Addazio the door? Or is everything A-OK up in Chestnut Hill? I ask because a BC fan who posts on the Boneyard makes the claim that the BC fanbase wants Addazio gone yesterday.
Note: I'm not trolling, I'm asking a serious question.

As long as BC is in the Atlantic division, 8-0 is not realistic in the ACC. But what they have done is go 4-0 out of conference and find at least 2 conference wins (and in a better year I could see up to 5 conference wins). When 9-3 is the ceiling, 6-6 isn't bad enough to fire the coach, IMO.

Could BC win more conference games in the Coastal consistently? If so, would that allow them to play bigger OOC games? If both of those questions are true, would that move to the Coastal help the ACC?

BC for GT has been suggested on this forum before. However, from an ACC perspective the better trade would be GT for Louisville - more balanced.
Either way it's not likely to happen. The best anyone could hope for is swapping cross-over opponents to get VT/UL and VA/BC.

Giving BC Virginia would give them a more winnable conference game. VT/UL would help both of our SOS & give the ACC another marquee game. It just makes sense.

I think the BC poster who posts on your Board is basically correct. Most of the more vocal fan base wants him gone (e.g., the fans who post on the BC boards, etc.). In talking to fans at tailgates, games, etc., I get the impression this view goes deeper into the fan base. BC fans are happy for the players in getting to a bowl, but many fans are doubtful Daz can take the Program back to the days of winning 10-11 games a season and making the ACCCG back-to-back.
BC is likely to get a new AD soon, though. Some say by year end. This seems to be one of the worst kept secrets in the BC community, IMO.

I don't think anyone on earth is going to get BC back to 10-11 wins a season unless something happens to Jimbo and Dabo, to say nothing of Louisville. That is an unfair standard.
Agree with Hokie...6-6 to 9-3 is probably BC's reasonable range unless the ACC totally collapses again. I think Addazio did well enough this year to keep his job...far from clear he's the guy long term though.

Agree. Most BC fans seem to believe that Addazio is not the guy for BC. In fact, many were hoping for Wake to beat us - the fear is that 6-6 and a Bowl game keeps him for one more year.
Under Addazio, our offensive production has been horrible. Yes, we beat Wake, but, we gained 167 total yards for the game. We've been at the bottom of FBS the last two years in offense; it's been ugly and boring to watch.
For this year, we've earned a Bowl game. Four of those wins came against UMass, UConn, Buffalo, and Wagner - may have been the weakest OOC schedule in the P5. And, of course, we were completely blown out by Clemson, FSU, Louisville, and VT.
Not sure if we can compete for ACC titles, but, we want to at least be competitive. BC didn't belong on the same field as the 'brass' in the league this year. You want to feel that you have a chance; that a lucky bounce here or there may result in an upset. And, we'd like to see an entertaining product.

Going anywhere from 6-6 to 9-3 (with the rare 10-2+ season sprinkled in) each year is definitely a realistic goal for BC. Problem with Addazio is that he went 3-9 (0-8) in 2015. Which was weird because he was able to turn a 2-10 (1-7) team in 2012 with Spaz into a 7-6 (4-4) team in 2013.

You say that as if winning 10-11 games a season were a frequent occurrence. It was 2006 and 2007, years in which FSU and Clemson were a combined 17-15 in conference play. Other than that, the only ten win season since 1980 was 1984. If getting to 10 wins on a consistent basis is the goal, it isn't just Addazio who won't get you there. Urban Meyer would struggle to make it.

At the end of the day you are what you are. BC can realistically go 8-4 and win a bowl game (9-4) most years. However, even if they get a transcendant coach who can take them to 11-1, chances are they won't be able to keep him long (e.g. Tom Coughlin, etc.) or he won't be able to sustain it (e.g. Jack Bicknell, Dan Henning, etc.).

Given how the program has regressed under Spaz and Daz, I could live with that. Realistically, I'd be happy with BC being a Top 20 - 40 team consistently, being competitive against the brass in the league, pulling off a few upsets, and being in a position to challenge for an Atlantic Division title a few times a decade.
BC fans run the full spectrum. Some will be happy to go to crappy bowls most of the time as long as the program doesn't have any scandals and doesn't completely embarrass the school (i.e. going winless in conference). Others believe we should strive to live up to the school's motto (Ever to Excel) and not accept mediocrity. Those folks would say what I've described as accepting mediocrity.
I fall in the middle somewhere. I'm aware of BC's constraints and mission. I just want to be competitive, be in the mid-to-upper tier in the ACC, and have a team that's fun to watch. We've done that for years. We've seldom been elite (except when a certain Doug stepped on campus for 4 years or when Matty Ice wore the maroon and gold), but, we've always been competitive. We've always given good teams fits and we've been entertaining to watch. And, we've always been able to pull some upsets that have electrified the fanbase (within the last several decades, we've beaten Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, Penn St, Notre Dame, Clemson, FSU, etc.).
