If PJ is ever coaching at NIU it's because he failed miserably at the next level

Lot of good coaches get fired but in your little mind being fired means failing miserably like all your posts.

Being fired is failing. Being in the P5 then ending up at NIU or a MAC school means you are out of opinions. Also, sweet personal attack, you continue to be hilarious.

If PJ is ever back at NIU his antics will have run dry. Hey maybe he could hire Carey as offensive coordinator.

I think people fail to realize how difficult - and rare - it is to run the table. In any conference. You can be "favored" in every game, but to out-perform your opponent for 12 consecutive games is a feat. We're the first G5 to do this in 6 years.
Not impressed by WMU in the least. Not a single quality win.
Yeah, got it, DPN. Rinse, wash, repeat.
Sorry about the Big12/AAC non-invite. Bummer, that.
WMU sucks
You know, DogPound, you're just like MadDawgz. You two should start your own message board where you make a nonsensical stand and then repeat the same thing over and over in spite of everyone else offering evidence to the otherwise. You're a great NIU fan, a huge asset to this forum, but I don't get why you sometimes choose this contrarian stance that you beat to death.

Sometimes it's just fun to get under folks skin when you know it really bothers them. The board can get monotonous, so every so often you just have to change it up.
Also, I firmly believe WMU isnt one of the five best G5 teams this year. Just lucked out with their schedule.

I just think its funny how you latch onto a different team every week, and that team promptly gets their butt kicked. Yes Houston sucks, Boise sucks, Navy sucks, sorry but its true

I wish the AAC would take us. We are stuck in the MAC and that's so sad. What awful awful schools and programs. We'll never advance.

In our current situation, I'm sure the AAC will accept us in a flash. Maybe the call already came through!
I know, I know, it's all about the TV market, with hundreds of thousands of NIU fans across the metropolitan area pining to see us on real TV (outside of November mid-week winter night games).
Here's an idea: How about us first working hard to get back to being worthy of being in the MAC? We have a few tough hills to climb to get back to respectability and leading the pack.

We were on top of the MAC for YEARS, it does nothing and means nothing. Who cares how good we are st football, all that matters is donor support and facilities.

AAC sucks, important thing is the G5 rep is coming out of the MAC, not the AAC

Donor support comes with winning - especially the marquee OOC and post-season games - AND AGRESSIVE MARKETING TO DONORS AND POTENTIAL DONORS. Upgrading the facilities (outside of desperately needed fixes and upgrades) with a declining program won't bring in fans in the long term.

if that were true NIU would have massive donor support. NIU has done nothing but win for over a decade, minus a few blips. NIU needs a total culture change and everyone needs to buy into it. Sadly, I just don't see that happeneing.
Also, fan bases grow when fans are able to actually attend games in a facility that they can be proud of. Us die hards love Huskie Stadium because we remember when it was a wild, raucous venue. But with declining attendance around CFB, winning won't be the only thing to bring fans and support. The first step is to get on the level of the houstons and Boise's of the world. The whole community must buy in, along with the university and athletic department. Which again, isn't exactly what is happening on our campus for many factors that have been listed ad nauseam on this board for two years.

One thing that alarms me when attending basketball and football games is the general age of fans I notice having the most presence. We have very few young alumni who are fans... a few sure, but the crowd is typically much older than your "few years out of college" alumni. That's alarming, we need new life infused into the fan base. Win them over as students or young alumni, so they stay past that point for the ride

This is true. I guess it means most of our support at the games attendance-wise comes from the community and alumni. I have made several acquaintances from the folks sitting in my area, and most are older alumni. A few are non-alumni community members.

Being a season ticket holder for a few seasons and considered a "young alumni" in my early thirties, I have noticed this too. I attended Northern during the beginning of the "glory" years on the program, including 2003, and cant believe the lack of interest from fellow alumni my age. I'm not smart enough to figure out why, but Northern has done everything they can to make the game day experience enjoyable and very affordable. And the product is usually very good. I am also a ND season ticket holder, and I can honestly say I have just as good of time at NIU on game-days
But I will say the game at Sox part definitely brought out much more of the "young alumni." And that's a good thing. I get why some fans/regulars didn't like it, but building up a future fan base is too important to not do that again

I would absolutely love to see them do the Guaranteed Rate Field game again - but this time on a Saturday with a bigger name OOC opponent. Schedule the game for mid to late October after baseball on a Saturday. ESPN won't televise it because it's not on a weeknight? Well, screw them, and get the game on CBSSN or a local TV station. It'll work, especially if the weather is nice.
