CUSA Men's Basketball Power Rankings - Week 2

I don't know their methodology. But we finished last year ranked #273 so that's a pretty nice bump for theee games (2-1).
I think he uses last year a little bit, but also works in a formula based on returning players and rankings of incoming players.
Agree with your gripe about Sagarin, one of several reasons I almost never check it anymore.

KenPom starts with a huge previous season bias to begin which fades game over game.

We got run out of the gym by a middle of the pack ACC team and a bottom of the barrel SEC team. That has to count for something, right? Right?!? 03-puke

RE: CUSA Men's Basketball Power Rankings - Week 2
We looked horrible on defense too last season until about Feb. with Coaching guru Harper, so hopefully this seasons teams picks it up sooner then Feb....This team can score easily just have to be able to close out on shooters, they are so weak in doing that so far this year...

Watched Belmont against Florida last night and they could not hit anything, mostly because Florida has some athletic long guys who were closing out shooters and not letting them get good looks....Florida is ok but not a dominate team like Belmont made them look last night...

Lawson is a pretty good shot blocker against weaker teams, but Robinson will be a complete game changer next season and huge upgrade to Lawson(no offense to Lawson, he has improved, but talent wise obviously not close)....He blocks anything and everything close to the rim, that will be a huge difference right away from this season...We have not had rim protector like that in years and that will lead to guys who can take more risk guarding guards...Next season I don't see how we start off too slow with the talent we have....Better talent also usually equals to guys who have better height, lenthth, jumping ability, etc, which leads to an easier time being about to defend guys..Battle of Atlantis we may not win next season, but hopefully we can have a strong showing and make some noise for CUSA, this season lets see what ODU can do...

Miss St did not run UTEP out of the gym. The Miners lost by 7 in what was a tight, see saw game and UTEP played without their best forward in Winn. That loss is not a big deal. If Floyd can keep everyone together this will be a decent team with post season possibilities but not likely conference championship quality.

You must have been watching a different game than I was. We looked like crap.

GW tonight will be a better litmus test, but I worry where our head is at after getting throttled on national tv.

You guys played possibly the best team in the country (top 5 at least). Showed some good things, imo. Kansas just hit every shot it seemed. Cokley isn't going to struggle like that in CUSA games.

You left out the #1 RPI team in the country! The difference between 1st place Charlotte and 2nd Place Creighton is about the same as the difference between 2nd Place Creighton and 18th Place San Diego State. This is clear evidence that we are the most dominant team in the country and should receive the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. No need to play more games.

That's your perspective. My perspective is that they spotted us 11 points in the first 5 minutes and beat us by 20 the rest of the game.

Freeman isn't in the conference anymore but Marcus Evans is averaging 1.5 more ppg in 4 less minutes per game than Freeman did last year (and he's a sophomore). So close?

Evans is playing at or above the level Freeman played at last year. Kudos to him. Hopefully, for his sake, he doesn't lose out POY to some crappy point guard.

If the best team in the conference just lost to Furman, we are in deep trouble.
