It is indeed a great night for Arkansas State. You'll likely get this win over a top 25 school and your men beat Georgetown in hoops.

This is on their AD, they should have worked with the TV networks and UH to play this at an earlier date. This ruins virtually everything Louisville had going for it, except the conference race.

Really? Not even sure where to go with this. Short week? 03-lmfao Travel? 03-lmfao Unfamiliar opponent? Does UH run the wing T? 03-lmfao This whole post is just silly.

Yes, the short week, you have one less day of prep than the opponent because you have to travel and it's an OOC foe, which means that you don't match up with them every year and know their tendencies or even learn their tendencies from other in-conference foes on film.

Also, the lack of rest on a short week is a factor.

If I didn't need to be a work early I'd get drunk. On the plus side, I'm leaving work early to fly to NOLA on Friday.
35-3 Final

Troy won't be ranked for another generation. They should savor that #25 while they can.

They've got until Sunday morning.
AState is now one win away from a fifth Sun Belt title in six years.

Uhhh .... wait, what??

These were the results of AR St's first four games of the season: home vs Toledo LOST by 21, at Auburn LOST by 37, at Utah St LOST by 14, home vs Central Ark (FCS) LOST by 5.

Were all the starters in jail for the first four weeks???? Or is the Sun Belt just really down this year???

Bear with me.

Changed offensive coordinators (old one turned down head coach at ULM, went Maryland as OC), OL coach left. Returned zero starters in the offensive backfield.

Went into spring with last year's #2 QB the heir apparent. Juco QB comes in. Final week of spring Juco #1, last year #3 is #2 and the heir apparent is #3. About a week later the heir apparent is dismissed from the team because he had been recording meetings hoping to prove the coaches were out to get him. He failed well maybe he didn't since they did kick him off. He's at McNeese. The #2 transfers as well.

AState brings in a grad transfer from Pitt but can't practice until fall.

Can't settle on a QB until last week of fall camp, grad transfer gets it. Loses it in the third game down 24-0

Team plays like total crap. Offensive line with four returning all-conference players can't open up 100 yards rushing against Central Arkansas.

City goes into meltdown and our AD (former player at AState, bounced around a bit as an assistant football coach before going into administration) has a late-night meeting with the head coach. AD says they just looked at film together.

We come out with an all new offensive blocking scheme and basically run at will against then league best rushing defense Georgia Southern.

Haven't lost since.

Wow.

So the QB is the JUCO, now? And you guys mostly just run the ball?

Defense must be great.

We seem to be whatever from week to week. We were air raid against Troy until the juco went out. The grad transfer came in and led a 16 play 91 yard drive that consumed just shy of 11 minutes on the ground to seal the game. Defense is classic bend don't break. There was a clip floating around on twitter of Trooper Taylor's son demonstrating that. Grabbed a Troy player by the waist and held on to stop him a yard of a first down on a fourth down play.

The defense led the nation in defensive TD's last year, only fifth in the nation this year.

So you are asking if they jump Penn St and Wiscy. Depends on how everyone's good wins/losses do. OU already gets a bump with UH getting a big win.

Looking at top 25 wins/losses, these are the teams in or close to the top 25 they have played :

OU- Ohio St, WVU (assuming a win), UH (so OU 1-2 in top 25 games)
Wiscy- LSU, Neb, Mich, Ohio St (2-2)
Penn St- Michigan, Ohio St, Pitt (1-2)

Penn St has the best win, but the worst loss. Wiscy has the best losses, (Mich> UH).

I don't think OU can pass Wiscy this week. Maybe Penn St with an impressive win and/or a close win by Penn St.

Pitt is the worse loss, at Pitt? That's tough sledding.

Plus, have you seen their DE whose pants stop at his mid-thighs, with no leg pads to boot??? Not sure how that's legal, in CFB.

I'm confused. Which team was it that played a non-conference opponent in November on short rest? The team that won, or the team that lost?

Yeah, the fact that it was non-conference may be a red herring. Short week is even shorter when you travel, though.

You know the Big XII is saying, "God, we came way too close to adding those guys! What the hell were we thinking???"

If they have gotten Boise State? Look at how good Boise would be in the Big 12 with a win over Washington State?

Houston would have boast the Big 12 as well.

Motivation can have a weird impact on a team. Or program.
