Well, that was fun...
I enjoyed Troy being ranked for one week. It was fun. Yay for Troy.
I love how every single season, one way or another, Troy finds an amazingly awful way to disappoint their fans. How fun for us.

All about perspective. If this was year four under Brown and 8 to 10 win seasons were normal, I'd be upset. We'll end between 8-4 and 10-2. After the last five years, that's incredible. It's been a great season.
For what it's worth, I would taken this loss much worse back in my college days.

I was going to point out that y'all had a wild run 2006-2010 that wasn't that disappointing, then I looked at each year.
Wow
2006 lost at home to AState costing Troy an outright title
2007 lost at home to FAU costing Troy an outright title
2010 lost at home to FIU costing Troy an outright title.
Glad the game last night wasn't in Jonesboro.
Plus side, maybe the money vultures don't steal Brown before he has a chance to do more building.

1st SunBelt team to get ranked congrats, no matter how short lived it will be!
I'm sure 100% of Troy fans would have been happy if they were told at the beginning of the year they'd have the type of season you are having

I was actually looking forward to seeing a Belt team on the Top 25 tab on ESPN's scores.....then I realized they switched to the playoff Top 25.
Karl Benson needs to fire Anderson though. He is terrible out of conference and is destroying any credibility the Belt builds up by actually winning in conference. App and Troy but on a show for the perceived Top of the 2016 Belt....then Arkansas State comes along, blows Troy out and has a loss to UCA.

Don't ya think Benson should start 'firing' (replacing) the schools that can't beat us?

UCA loss looks bad. Feels bad too, but this is different stAte team now, and that UCA team would beat a lot of teams in SBC, especially with a +4 turnover margin.
Season's not over. stAte has a tough assignment next week at UL. Hopefully they learn from what hapened at Troy and get focused for a very capable Ragin Cagin team.

Guess he can do it by sending the papers like he did last year's trophy.

Haha. Karl Benson has absolutely no say in what we do. Anytime he makes suggestions, we usually just laugh at him.

LOL....the first time Benson comes to Jonesboro with some trophy, he gets roundly booed. He's tried to avoid Jonesboro ever since.
I wonder if Trump ever grabbed a handful of Benson...?

They're only technically second place.
With a loss to Troy, I think it's safe to call them third place.

The good thing is that Troy got there name out there, if only briefly.
Next year, if they start out strong, they will be on the voters minds much sooner.
Heck, they might even get pre-season votes.

A state has a stout roster of transfers and the gamble is paying off at the moment. Takes a special coach to make that happen.

I'm pretty sure I called this a couple of months ago. I also told Troy people that they would likely lose one of the past two games due to the short weak and physicality, yet I was told I was wrong, of course.
I never made the comments of State showing up in conference play in jest; I was actually worried that would be the case. The sad thing is that as a fan, this is the status quo for Arkansas State and I'd still be salty over that loss to UCA. Now you all have to avoid the let down game against ULL.

I do believe Troy will get preseason votes next year. I'd be shocked if the Trojans aren't picked to win the conference considering we return a crap-ton of starters.
Problem is, next season we open up @ Boise State, and then we play Alabama State and Akron. Boise State is going to be a handful. Then we play LSU later in September.
We need to beat Boise State if we have any hope of being ranked again.
