Getting hard to argue about number 1, but number 2 is not correct. The MAC is now lagging behind the MWC but still ahead of Sun Belt and CUSA. The MAC does have the best G5 team right now though.

The MAC has the third best G5 team and is the worst G5 conference. period.

Carey has and always will be a position coach!!!!!!

Carey has allowed this TEAM to regress the last 4 Yrs.

He has ssssooooo predictable in his play calling, the deterioration of the offensive & defensive lines, NO TALENT AT QB and NO WILLING TO COACH & MAKE ADJUSTMENTS THE ENTIRE GAME!!!

I was happy the defense at least kept the team in the game, despite the breakdowns, and with the offense sputtering and all. Anyway, it could have been worse. We were, after all, playing with the #3 QB. Though that's part of the problem with having a dual-option QB. I wasn't sure Graham was going to get up after a couple of those hits.

RE: NIU - Toledo Game Thread
When NIU has the ball Carey's blood pressure goes up , when NIU is settling for a FG attempt or punting it goes down. His fear of NIU making a mistake on offense has absolutely crippled this team. You could see this starting at Ohio state last year. That's why the middle of the field is unused and why Huff will never see the field. The irrational boogeyman type fear of the turnover. I mean geez I remember good little league coaches in baseball that really created a good atmosphere by saying "I can live with physical mistakes just not mental ones". I just wish someday Carey would realize punting the bal every possession is like half a turnover

It's completely unfathomable why JB gets essentially all the RB carries. We've never seen what Huff could do if allowed to get into the flow of the game, instead of getting like 1 carry and then being benched for a quarter or more.

It appears to me that it is more important to punish Huff than win some games. Am I the only guy that feels this way?

I think it's as simple as being afraid of a mistake. Huff has fumbled a few times in his career

Also starting to wonder if Carey is even in touch when players are injured. Is it possible maddie seriously injured himself coming back to play the second half against bgsu when it was clear he was already injured. And not evaluating Graham after some of this hits brought back shades of Brady Hokes ignoring concussion of his QB. I guess Carey is becoming the poor mans version of Hoke, although the rich man version of Hoke sucks

Possible, but I think there is something odd going on between Carey and Huff.

It's been a long time since Huff has fumbled in a game, but it wouldn't surprise me if Carey is still holding him back for a fumble from 2 years ago.

I have to think Carey's mindset is stuck in pre 2014 mode. Those Huskie teams always knew how to win close games. He must still think "his" team knows how to win so he plays it super conservative and believes if it's a one score game either way the winner mentality Huskies will seize the moment. Dude needs a reality check.

And yet the player that gets into an argument with the head coach at halftime is allowed to start at QB the following week.

Makes sense.

RE: NIU - Toledo Game Thread
I'm curious what people's opinions are of the secondary this year. We've had a lot of injuries, and guys like Isom get a lot of playing time, and even Aregeros playing. I think Isom has actually done pretty well for a freshman. And we typically don't get all that much pressure on the QB unless we blitz, making it harder on the secondary. Just curious what people think of the secondary going forward.

Also, Wynne seems to be making a bunch of plays when he's in there.

And I know there are grumblings about the jet sweep, but you gotta run that with Turner, he just does well when he gets the ball.

T. Smith has been a god-send. He's made a huge difference. If we can get 7 healthy, they're two ballers right there.

Isom and Trequon Smith have been great and Trayshon Foster has shown some things too. Also, Mycial Allen has gotten better and better. The future is bright in the defensive backfield.
