Charlotte bowling? After going through a terrible start losing to pitiful Eastern Michigan and getting trounced by ODU, Charlotte seems to be a different team winning on the road @ Southern Miss and @ Marshall. It's possible with Rice, MTSU and UTSA left on their schedule

Charlotte bowling would be a great story! First year to have a shot at a bowl. They will be favored vs Rice and then will have to split the remaining 2 vs MT and UTSA. Two tough finishing games but the way the 49ers are playing, it could certainly happen. ODU is another good story out of C-USA. Remember the voting this past summer had ODU finishing 6th in the east division and the strong reaction by Wilder? He knew his team was better than that and they are. UTSA is coming on strong also so we could have 3 relative newbies going bowling this year. They are really upping their game, all 3 of them.

Tend to agree with your rankings. It looks like a LaTech/Western Kentucky Championship game at this point. Both teams are taking care of business in their division. Two fine teams.

This has been one crazy year in C-USA. I can't really define our conference much any more. That makes for interesting conference watching from the inside, but doesn't do much for us on the outside. Notwithstanding that fact, I've decided just to enjoy the ride, even though my Herd is in the last car on the train.

I just wish ODU was ranked higher than the teams they blew out.

I appreciate the effort, but you ranked ODU behind 2 teams they whipped by a combined 85-36, and there's nothing to show ODU is weaker now than then, and in fact, with Lawry healthy, they are likely better.

I agree. With Middle's QB issues, I think ODU sits alone in its own tier behind Western and Tech.

Guys, it's just his way of pulling our chain one more time -- and damn is he good at it!

By virtue of the head-to-head win, I place LA Tech 1st and WKU 2nd. Has nothing to do with me being "a homer"....(even though I clearly am, LOL). But this will likely get settled on the field anyway.



LA Tech, WKU - Clearly the top two teams until someone beats them again

ODU - Yes, a team that was down to WKU 52-7 at halftime could be the 3rd best team in CUSA. Don't ask me to explain it, because I can't. But ODU did beat UTSA and Charlotte in head-to-heads, and that ranks first in my book.

UTSA, Charlotte - This is a tie. Clearly the two BEST surprises in CUSA for 2016. Their game on Nov 26th is going to be a good one.

USM - Suddenly, USM's last 3 games of the season --at ODU, at UNT and at home against LA Tech-- look ominous.

UNT, MT, FIU - These are hard to rank. UNT is clearly moving up, and MTSU is clearly moving down. And FIU did beat Charlotte. So.......

FAU, UTEP, Marshall - All of these teams hope to finish with 4 or 5 wins.

Rice - Bailiff needs to go. Rice is a good brand that deserves better.

I would put USM just above Rice and UTEP. Never ever hire a SWAC coach people. USM is reaping the rewards of making such a hire. Can't wait for a certain USM poster to jump me for that comment. Well, bring it on. I have seen enough.

If USM wins one of those three games, it will be a huge upset.

Rice was one of our better rivals in the WAC. I hope they get their act together soon!

You guys are under rating Southern Miss. They are still a solid team. They could certainly win out, imo. Certainly need to figure out a way to fix run defense.

To date, USM's only 3 CUSA wins are @ #11 UTEP (34-7), and at home against #12 Marshall (24-14) and #13 Rice (44-28).

By any measure, the consensus is that those 3 schools are having disappointing seasons. I personally have those 3 ranked #11, #12 & #13 in CUSA. Thus, it is very difficult to rank USM. USM has lost at #4 UTSA (55-32) and at home to rising star #5 Charlotte (38-27).

IMO, the toughest part of USM's conference schedule is still ahead of them.

There is certainly some disconnect. They have good players putting up good numbers, but for some reason it is not translating to the scoreboard. But I tend to more more stock in what the numbers show and less into turnovers or things I consider fluky.

Teams get better throughout the year, especially young teams . A team in week 2 or3 could be totally different in week 10-11.
