We briefly hit it (Gardner's catch) in the WMU game thread.
The conclusion is that the player, Gardner, is responsible for notifying the game officials that he wishes to be an eligible receiver but failed to do so.
It is obviously hard to say how the play would have turned out if Gardner reported as an eligible receiver.

Props to the OL:
OFFENSIVE LINE SHINES: The EMU offensive line did not yield a sack against No. 20 Western Michigan. Oct. 22. It was the fourth game EMU has kept the QB clean on the day. On the season, EMU is fourth in the nation (1st MAC) in fewest sacks allowed, while they are also second in the FBS (1st MAC) in tackles for loss allowed behind only Missouri.

Looks like MacLean may be out for this game, Dawson listed as starting in his place. Eriksen listed as 3rd at RB.

RE: Game Week: Miami
After both of the previous losses this season, we've responded with a win. Both of those wins were also on the road. This time we have a chance to respond at home. I'll be shocked if we have a let down this game. Creighton has been preaching "1-0" each week the entire season. With bowl eligibility on the line, I have a hard time believing we won't come out with our best.

Further, I think Miami's weaknesses play into our strengths. Our DL should have little trouble on the pass rush, and their offensive strength is in the run game which we've proven we can stop.
Biggest room for improvement over our game with them last season is preventing Miami from getting to Roback.

Maclean just trying to battle through the shoulder week to week. Better to have him, but plenty of quality depth if he can't go.
I think Eriksen has just beaten himself up, so he's just trying to get back to full strength. Nothing major, just 3 or 4 different things from taking, and dishing out, such hard hits. The last game he went out, looked like a hard shot to the ribs. He may need to change his running style a bit to be able to stay on the field (obviously much easier said than done).

I see MacLean listed as the starter.

Wasn't Miami coach Martin considered for the EMU job when he was at GV?

My recollection was there were two times, once he turned it down and there was a second time (I think it was when English was hired).

Strange things happen during midweek MACtion. Ohio drops Toledo at the Glass Bowl, and previously 1-6 Buffalo beats Akron by 21 (!) points.

Agree - positive steps in the right direction. I will say this about Lyke, she's seemingly building a foundation for success in football - and I love it!!!

No doubt!!! EMU has been hustling season tickets, donations, etc.
Some VERY impressive results in increasing season ticket sales, donor contributions, etc.
An athletic program (or dept.) needs: Wins, butts in seats, and contributions from donors.
Crazy thing about EMU is that it gets more $ in donations than from ticket sales and it isn't even close.
