The greatest ACC related comeback is Maryland over Miami in about 84 or 85. Boomer Esiason as QB and Bobby Ross as MD coach. They were down 31 or 35 nothing the half IIRC, and won the game 42-38 - I could be off a little.

At the end of the first quarter UofL had over 200 yards offense and NCST was still in the minus numbers for total offense. This might turn out pretty ridiculous -- maybe UofL will get props like Michigan for winning a game big (only their opponent was Rutgers and the worse in FB, while NCST is pretty good).

NC State is not deep enough to play ND, Clemson, and Louisville back, to back, to back, and have anything left in the tank. The same thing happened two years ago when we played FSU nearly even and the next week we were killed at Clemson.

No one should be surprised. We don't have the talent to go against two top 5 teams in consecutive weeks and Louisville was fully prepared.

Dave D is one of my favorite young coaches. The worse thing that could have happen to his team was for them to play Clemson close while Louisville sleepwalked against Duke.

Good luck to your guys the rest of the season.

Cuse wins despite 16 penalties...back to .500%

4-4 with 4 games to go...the dream is still alive St. Pete or bust.

Congrats on the win. Two more and bowl eligible.
Not looking forward to playing Syracuse the next few seasons with Babers there.

Wasn't Maryland involved in another huge comeback win when Frank Reich was the QB?

That was Frank Reich. He also led a similar comeback in NFL for the Buffalo Bills.

I remember that Bills-Oilers playoff game. I was there. But I remembered people on the radio & tv saying he did something similar when he was at Maryland.

1984: Miami lead 31-0 at halftime, then Maryland won 42-40.
Frank Reich was the QB, and at the time it was the biggest comeback ever.

Since then three other teams have matched the 31-point comeback, and one bested it:
2006: Northwestern led Michigan State 38-3 in the 3rd-quarter (a 35-point lead), then the Spartans came back to win 41-38.

My hangover from Thursday wore off by today, just in time for MTSU to beat Mizzou 51-45!! I don't even remember what happened now that the Raiders won like that. Did Miami play this week? No? Whew, thought something bad happened.

Naw. It hurts Louisville...a lot. SOS is part of the committee's formula for picking playoff teams. This is especially important for teams that don't win their conference. Louisville has no marquee games left on the schedule to impress the committee. They can only hope chaos ensues.

Ohio St losing probably helps a little but Houston losing does hurt. A top 10 win would have been impressive for the CFP committee but it's not a death blow to our chances. We still need Washington & others to lose still. Let's see what happens. With O St & A&M losing, Cards can move up to 5 in the polls.

We need Washington, WV & Baylor all to lose & Michigan beat Ohio St & win the B1G. SEC, ACC & B1G champs are in with Louisville being the best 1 loss team & with the far better loss to boot. (A&M?)

No, a big blow. Louisville now has zero games left against tough opponents with which to impress the CFP committee.

Also, UL needs for Clemson to either remain unbeaten or to lose twice. It would hurt if Clemson loses to FSU this week then wins out, because that would weaken the "goodness" of UL's loss to Clemson but still not get you past them into the ACC title game.
