This is not my preference. Much rather have UMass olympic sports in 2018 with a small scheduling alliance and alternate for bowl tie-in. Make us get off the pot and let us build our Football program and stadium. Basketball is rebuilding and will be an NCAA team by the 2018 season. Many women sports are at the top of the A10 conference. WBB though is a total rebuild but they have a good new coach, so time will tell.

What a sad pathetic conference...I hope they get left out of the playoff again
Ugly for college football as well, to jerk Universities like BYU and Cincinnati around. The have and have-nots mentality in college football is gross

In the real world, this will pass by nearly unnoticed. It's only on the intarwebs and twitterverse that this is a big deal. Whatever will we talk about now? Actual sports?

I'd be open to hearing pitches for WSU's spot. It's no slight to UMass or anyone else, I've just always been a fan and am partial to the Shockers.

RE: No Big 12 Expansion?
really after this is done- the next big thing in FBS football will be for after the 2019-20 season when the AAC, MWC, and BYU deals all come up.
I think the one thing that this does is make it MUCH tougher for UConn to leave the AAC for Big East. And probably impossible.

Blow it up, we'll take 4 of the leftovers.

It was not likely anyway. Institutionally, UConn would be a terrible fit for the current Big East.

SEC needs to say no to joke and pansy schools...they don't need two joke schools from Oklahoma. The Sooners would get squashed in the SEC West anyways

Nah... There is no "further down" this road. The disparity between the two divisions (Power/"g") are going to be too much going forward.
It's done.

Big 12 will not expand. No candidates received enough votes @Jake_Trotter reports

Filed to ESPN. No expansion. No candidate could generate supermajority.

Bob Bowlsby is about to begin -- or already has begun -- reaching out to the 11 expansion candidates to inform them of the league's decision

RE: No Big 12 Expansion?
Best news ever for the AAC. If the B12 actually does get the clause taken away for more cash the AAC is gonna hit the open market with all it's members and relative stability and we'll get to find out if the league is actually undervalued or not.

RE: No Big 12 Expansion?
Remember a few years ago that SEC and ACC said they will not expand, and they expanded to surprise us. This is just smokescreen where the Big 12 will expand. They need these schools that have strong football in the conference so that they can get them a better shot at the CFB Playoffs.

Because...you know...the networks are in the business of handing our cash...
The AAC isn't going to get anything more and they'll like it.
