The gave us FIVE turnovers....it is almost statistically impossible to lose a game being +5 in turn overs. I think teams win a near a 80%+ winning rate just being +2 in the turn overs.

They sucked bad we sucked way worse end of story.

We had nearly 600 yards of offense.

We held you guys to 160 yards rushing.

If it wasn't for the damn turnovers we'd have won by 3 scores.

What you saw from our 0-4 squad tonight was that we are finally on the cusp of playing as expected.

I know you guys are bummed. Certainly let one get away tonight. But let us not pretend that game was even on the stat sheet and we got a lucky break to win.

At the same time, they had 12 chances to kill the game late and failed pretty miserably at it.

We'd be saying similar things if we had forced 5 turnovers and lost.

Sure. My point is the five turnovers were the lone reason it was close. They had a 9 minute drive in the 3rd quarter and after that essentially did not move the ball again. I mean literally not move it forward again.

That was the first time I've ever really seen Georgia Southern abandon the option. I know they've not been doing much of it this year, but I was shocked they just sort of gave it up late in the first half.

Without the triple option, their run game just isn't very good. They need the deception. Read option with a gimpy Elison just isn't very hard to stop.

Only 2 were forced.

Well with AState's five turnovers I think AState did it's part proving we weren't sandbagging.

My opinion on GaSo. Pretty good squad that was let down by the coaches. They were too afraid of losing in the fourth quarter to win. AState was stamping out the run most of the night and there wasn't enough faith in the passing game, the fear of stopping the clock on an incompletion and the fear of a pick opened the door for AState to win.

When I saw this game on the schedule prior to the season, I was excited to see these 2 goliaths finally meet as members of the SBC. Unfortunately for Southern fans, this game was even about its opponent. It was all about the lack of IDENTITY and misuse of ESTABLISHED talent on this roster that took away from this contest.

Honestly, that was a tough game to watch. State was able to consistently get around our edge rushers for 5+ yards on every carry. I'm not sure what our DE were doing, but it wasn't containment.

Congrats .......... normally I'd want revenge in Statesboro next time, but what I really want is our OLD OFFENSE back.

The good news is this disaster of coaching will get the last of the Kool-Aid drinking fans of the staff to demand a redo on the coaching search.

RE: Don't Fret Georgia Southern Fans
Having been around and unfortunately or fortunately associated with GA Southern fans for quite sometime I expected this response to this loss.

A word of encouragement, look at App's current predicament. We had a coaching change before our lame duck season began, but our fans expected us to still dominate as we did previously (myself included). As you fellas know we didn't for basically two seasons and also suffered a number of fan base humbling and humiliating defeats. We weren't the team we thought we were anymore and fans wanted the coaches head because a number of the losses were on them (I know I did). Financially we couldn't run the coaches out of town so early, so the decision was already made to soldier on. My advice, let the season play out and let the progress be measured in years not weeks.

Weill I now know that stAte will run the ball all over our defense. At least GS go the the loss to stAte out of the way for the rest of us.

Coaching search? Your team is 2-1 in conference, 3-2 overall. Huh?

I hope you were able to get back your deposit on that moving van.

And I don't recall any decision being made. App has never fired a coach mid year for performance reasons.

Your 2014 team actually got better as the season went on. Ours isn't getting better. In 2014 you guys had a redshirt freshman QB after losing Tony Washington and Andrew Peacock at wide receiver and you still salvaged a pretty decent season from it. We've got two seasoned senior option QBs, three running backs that are at least UDFA caliber guys, and maybe the best receiver in our program's history (that's not an exaggeration).

There's no comparison.

They lost to Liberty at home six games into that season, Satterfield's second as a head coach after going 4-8 the year before losing to NC A&T, Chuck South and the mediocre or better SoCon opponents. We're a competent o-line coach away from being 5-0, let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

This has been building for weeks and is not a reaction to just one loss. I saw the offensive woes in the Sav St game. We just out athleted Sav St. and did not score at will. We dont have worse talent than we did in 2013, 2014, or 2015 any of those teams would not lose a +5 turnover game to just about anyone. Especially an 0-4 team with a unranked FCS loss. The team that was on the field last night might not win another game this year. That is not being over dramatic as it stands now no team is going to be worse than ArkSt coming in and or give us FIVE turn overs.

No, we are dealing with a systemic coaching issue, not just an o-line issue.

The staff knew the o-line was getting stuff... so they went air raid and that worked.

Then they stopped.

On the defensive side... we played dime coverage... and allowed them the run it all over the place.

We finally realized that need to shoot the gaps with LBs late in the 4th qrt and that worked.. too late.

Ark State ran the SAME run play 20+ it seems.

No.. this is more than just an o-line coach issue.

The team that lost to Liberty was better than the team that lost to Southern Miss and was blown out by Michigan and South Alabama. The team that lost to Liberty was not as good as the team that blew out Troy and beat Arkansas State and UL on the road.

They got better.

I never reserved a moving van, I was upset with where things were heading. I did offer to list Satt's home on the market, but that was mostly tongue in cheek since his house was already listed and we knew he wasn't going anywhere. Most of my ramblings at that point continued purely out of other Mountaineer fans vocal displeasure in outrage and dissent from our fan base. If it appeared I was trolling our own with their party line views, then yes I was.

I ate my crow for Satt eventually righting the ship the way he did, but don't tell me you expected it to happen the way it did.

We fired a coach with a .72 winning percentage after losing to Texas State. We'll do it again as this level of play is unacceptable.

We've fired this offensive coordinator BEFORE!

I'm pleasantly surprised, sure, but I was not impatient, as many were. We wound up being technically bowl eligible. No, I didn't expect that to happen - even at the beginning of the season - nor did I expect 11-2 last year.

The losses to Liberty and Southern Miss proved that a change needed to be made. And we made them with the move to a two deep with many underclassmen, who were FBS caliber players.
