I guess the Smith family isn't "truly" rich then. You learn something new every day around here.

I think it is clear who in this thread gets what I am saying and who doesn't.

The buthurt is very strong with some of you.

Please tell me you're not referring to cannon when you say it's good enough for the smith family.

I've taught classes on the ole miss campus. It's a decent school but in no way is it the Harvard of the south. I have a friend who uses his ole miss masters degree to break his weed up on.

I've spent a lot of time in Oxford over the years. The artists and musicians there are good people, many of whom I consider very good friends. What the people in this thread are referring to is the undeserved superiority that a lot of ole miss folks have - especially the younger ones.

The annual " Memphis kid drunked out of ole miss and had to come home and live in moms basement and go to Shelby state for 8 years to finally be admitted to Memphis. Ole miss is still heaven, I'm still bitter, but I love tiger baxetball" thread.

Some things never change.

This is ole miss' greatest tradition. Wrecking memphis' upwardly mobile kids for 100 years.

I'm not talking about the education, I'm talking about the experience. I'm talking about being the son of a billionaire and being BMOC at a school that "redshirts Miss Americas".

The kid was busted in Collierville with a trunk full of ecstasy his Sr. year in high school, you think he picked his school based on the quality of the education he would receive?

I went to Vandy, my brother went to Duke.

I have friends who went to utk and ole miss. Many of whom are wealthy.

There's no Shelby St. in this equation. I don't begrudge anyone for going to any school. You?

But to be a valued member of a vibrant college community, get an outstanding education, be prepared for graduate school, learn community service, be surrounded by other good kids, and have pride in your school....oh, about 200. Small schools like Birmingham-Southern, Center, Eckerd, College of Richmond, Washington and Lee, Mary Washington, Furman, any of a dozen small private schools in North Carolina, to the medium-size academic powerhouses like Emory, Vandy, to the truly world-class universities like U. of Georgia, Mizzou, UVA, UNC, U. of South Carolina, and Duke. Whether it's the activities on these campuses or the great cities and towns they are located in, or a combination of both, the college life at all of these schools and dozens more in the South is really amazing. And most of them provide a tuition package that is very doable or a free ride.
Yeah like I said, a couple thousand if you aren't dumb. Om is not the best anything. Anyone that thinks it is needs to get out more.

Bingo! Oxford is not the U. of Mississippi, and vice versa. The reason I will never attend another game at Ole Miss is not because of Oxford, its citizens, or even the University, particularly; it IS because of the newer generation, and even some of the "old folks" like me, who along with their rising money, have gotten the big head out of all proportion to their actual merit and worth.

Try walking around our campus sometime too.

The infatuation the media has with The Grove and The MOST ATTRACTIVE PEOPLE EVER at Ole Miss is so, so silly.
