RE: Brian Kelly
You do realize that Kelly came to UC with the "table set" for him, right? Seriously. He was not here long enough to demonstrate what he would have done here. He won with Mark Dantonio's players.

The situation is not the same right now. To take this program right now would have to be a serious rebuilding job...without the "Power"/BCS advantages.

I don't think he would take the job.

That being said, I also have moved on from him. The best of luck to Mr. Kelly and his family.

Absolutely... winning is all that matters to me and I know he can do that here.

Doubt ND cans him. They just gave him a new contract before the season started after going 10-3 last year. He is probably one more bad year away from being sacked.

Maybe he would take a page out of Petrino's book, minus the personal issues.

Should he be fired from Notre Dame, should we go after him heavily and offer him a $3+ million contract to come back to Cincinnati?

No.

Agreed. No.

Of course. Entertaining offense, fiery, can actually recruit, sells tickets. But hey, he left like d0uche once so let's gamble on an unkown and stick our nose up at BK.

All of this is purely hypothetical of course. BK will last at least another year, and unless Tubs lasts another year too, we won't ditch our new guy after one season.

Yep, definite risk he'd be Tuberville Redux, talented coach who burnt out at the top level and is looking for an easy retirement check.
His personality is not the type that takes a job to collect a check before retirement. He just isn't that type of guy.

He's a jerk but this program could use a big dose of jerk. I'm done with nice guys with meh programs and uninspired play.

Yep. Someone named Bohn has to see this just ain't working. No drive and the teams look that way.

I'd take Kelly back

BK fired Van Gorder and Greg Hudson in the new DC.

Kelly is not on the hot seat. If he leaves Notre Dame he can pretty much choose whatever job he wants.

Exactly. If ND put up with Davies and Weis as long as they did, BK currently has nothing to worry about. If they really want to improve their chances of getting in the playoffs, they'll join the ACC for football.

This.

ND is one of the top 3 jobs in the country. BK will have plenty of P5 options from teams with deep pockets if ND decides to let him go. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if an NFL team goes after him (again).

I do think he's a jerk and all about himself to but I would definitely take him back. Sometimes it's just about fit and he was a great fit here. It's really a no brainer if you can get him.

Agree. He probably has one more year if this year ends up a disaster.

Yeah... His other dream job was BC. I'm sure they're looking for a new coach.

But how would Kelly handle this Kiel situation, whatever it is? I'd have to know this before I could decide on whether I want him back.

He started his best quarterback when he had a broken arm...I think we know how he wouldve handled this one.

One could argue that didn't turn out too well for them.
