2012-13: Donnie Tyndall, Tim Floyd, Jeff Lebo, Donnie Jones, Danny Manning, James Dickey, Jerod Haase, Ed Conroy, Tom Herrion, Larry Brown, Ben Braun
Not exactly murderer's row compared to...

True, but he was also 9-9, finished 7th (out of 10 teams) in the league, and got bounced in the first round of the B12 tourney by 12-win TCU.
I get it. The TCU loss was a bad look. However, 8 of those losses were to ranked opponents, 5 of which were ranked in the top 10. I'm skeptical if he is going to be able to win "enough" here. I'm also skeptical of the recruiting so far. Since he left UK, however, he hasn't been in a situation where he was the big fish in a little pond. I think he'll have that opportunity here in the AAC. I'm hopeful more than I am confident.
I actually think he'll win fine here.
Those 2-3 stars that develop over 3-4 years will win easier against American teams than B12/B10.
Like Wichita and Marshall. You take last year's Shocker team and put them in the B10 and he's lucky to break .500.
I think Tubby is a good coach.
Don't know how many times I have to say it.
Some folks wanna crown him based on past results.
For me, what he does at Memphis is all that matters really.
2016 recruiting was average at best.
2017 recruiting is looking tentatively good.
2016 team on the floor - time will tell.

Amigo, there is nothing I can do to make your posts "out to be more than it is". You call players things like mummies and walking stiffs, and you mock the HC and the staff. You blatantly say they are doing nothing but collecting a check. Then you back off, and try to play the passive aggressive angle with "he's PROBABLY a good coach, BUT" stuff.
Amigo, that ain't "style". It's the opposite. It is an agenda. You use the recruiting thing as the foundation for your campaign. But it is obvious what it really is.

I was just daydreaming...imagine dj Stephens with Jamal's shooting ability. 2 guys with about the same build.
Dj would be lethal.
Back to reality. Looking forward to basketball.

There's some that think he already walks on water because he owns a piece of jewelry from 20 years ago.
Unbiased viewpoint can see that 2016 recruiting was average at best and that's being generous.
2017 recruiting has started off really well though.
Like I've said, he's a more grind it out type recruiting style that will take an adjustment.

Signed the coaching staffs at Western Kentucky, UNLV, Texas Tech and others who were hired in late May/early April and managed to fill our their scholarship numbers.
Temple just signed a JUCO G last week, same time that Western Kentucky took a grad trans G projected to start.
UNLV got a 4-5 star PF in the past 2-3 weeks.
Just stay in your lane, amigo.
Recruiting isn't your strong suit.

If you want to be seen as impartial you probably should take the golden parachute out of you sig...
With that in your sig it is obvious that you have an issue with the current coaching staff before they have even coached a game. If you want to attempt to fool anyone that would be the best course of action.
But hey that is just me.

Actually that sig went up after Tubby was hired and the remaining 2016 class withered up while Tubby and Mr. #BOOM were tending to other matters.
But, hey, we did get a dude who hasn't played in 4 years and wasn't courted by anyone else. But you seem happy. Or you just pull the "In (insert coach's name) We Trust."
Good for you if that's the case.

Who am I trying to fool?
I think it's very clear to anyone that I've had a major issue with their 2016 recruiting.
I have no issues with his coaching because I haven't seen him coach yet.
Still cannot understand folks who cannot/will not differentiate between criticisms of coaching vs criticisms of recruiting.

Nope...Golden parachute implies that he doesn't care and is just getting a check until he retires. So yeah that would be judging him before he ever coached a game...NO.
I am going to take a wait and see approach to Tubby...You know give him a chance.
Just like I am doing with Norvell and I see good recruiting and good results but many bad decisions and mental mistakes on the field on offense. Many love Norvell but I don't think he has shown he is a good coach YET

"Coaching" isn't just showing up at gametime and telling kids what plays to run.
His JOB started in early April. The primary function of his job at that time was to assess the skills and abilities of the players remaining and attempt to fill out roster to make the most of the season ahead.
Going into this season, the team has eight players who would be scholarship athletes on a peer school roster.
No one with a straight face can make the argument that he completed that requisite job function.

Right.
The problem with the comparison is that Norvell the ground recruiting and didn't use any excuses (nor did he need any from the fans). He just went out and signed guys.
And trust me when I say this, there are things I will not discuss on this board or even in a PM, but they would frustrate the heck out of folks where the 2016 roster is concerned.
It's not just that Tubby and staff recruited average for next year. It's a little deeper than that.
Let's just say, there are things in life that are often a choice.

So one bad recruiting season means you don't care and you are just in it for the paycheck...Just silly talk.
He wasn't known as a recruiter and that hasn't changed...Now lets see what happens on the court where it truly counts
