Georgia St has a Home 2019 date open. Not that I think NM is gonna set the stands on fire, but we do have a slot.

See it in the "news"? Dude their AD sent an email to every other AD begging them to take the game for $400k. That is all the proof you need. The reason was fans can't afford 6 games on the season ticket package.

UNM's Stadium holds about 40,000. For their home opener they had just over 20,000. They are not lighting their own stands on fire.

They have become bogus at the gate.
Another UNLV in the making.

RE: ULM in serious $$$$ trouble.
Ok, what our AD meant was that with us having to pay UNM $400k for the return trip, we would have to carry that cost across to our ticket holders. Therefore, seasonticket holders would have to pay an absurd amount of money for their seasontickets com 2019, which given the number of seasonticket holders we have would be a crap load of money. Plus, GA tickets for that game alone would be high. Given those factors and adding in the fact that we would play 6 home games there is no way we could be able to make the money to payout the $400k. Therefore, we would find ourselves with a huge loss, which the administration is not willing to take. But, if we can get rid of the game and add a less expensive home and home series, we would be in a better position to breakeven or turn a profit. That is why we are trying to get rid of the game. It is not saying that we are in serious financial trouble. Just that, after crunching numbers we know that we would lose hundreds of thousands that we do not want to lose.

Interesting that your ULM athletic director writes a memo and it takes an entire board to try and understand what he wrote, all without success. If this is a good example of your AD's writings and performance level, you guys may want to give some thought to getting a new AD.

This is only true of athletic departments in financial trouble, the only way you expect the season ticket holders to cover the entire cost of a game is if you are in a bad financial situation as an athletic department. The department owes the loyal season ticket holders quality home games, the season ticket holders shouldn't be held accountable to float the department.

I understood the email, but whether it is fake or not, it isn't exactly breaking news that ULM's athletic department struggles financially.

It's a bad look regardless of what was meant. Why would you sign a deal that's not going to be financially feasible in the first place. And then try to pass it off on your conference mates by telling them your fans are too poor?

Looks fake and if real their AD should be fired today.
1) that is not how you handle business
2) our fans can't pay for 6 games is laughable.

The last USA Today financial report shows ULM with the lowest revenue of any public FBS school, the gap is $7 million to the next school (Idaho). Idaho was $50k short of $20 million, they are the only two under $21 million.
$400,000 represents 3% of the budget. That same sum is less than 1.2% of the Texas State budget.
