Pick the winner and the score
Thursday 9/1
Presbyterian 3 @ CMU 48 Shouldn't be much of a game by halftime.
Friday 9/2
MVSU 17 @ EMU 41 EMU has a new QB but gets some of its better defenders back. MVSU is a bad FCS team. Eagles pull away in the 2nd half.
Ball State 31 @ Ga. St. 34 Ball State could very well be improved this season, but Georgia State won in Muncie; I think they'll win a close one at home.
Albany 14 @ Buffalo 38 Bulls take care of business.
Toledo 37 @ Ark. St. 31. This could be a good one.
Saturday 9/3
BGSU 17 @ #6 OSU 28. No upset here, but maybe a little scare, similar to OSU / NIU last season.
WMU 24 @ Northwestern 41. NW has a good running game, and WMU struggles with that, until proven differently. NW pulls away late.
Kent St. 10 @ Penn St. 27. Kent has the D to hang around, but I can't see their offense doing much damage in this one.
Miami 13 @ #17 Iowa 44. Miami should be improved but isn't ready for this game.
Texas St. 14 @ Ohio 35. Texas State doesn't have a lot of starters coming back. Even with an inexperienced QB, I don't see Ohio having much trouble.
VMI 10 @ Akron 34. Akron has a lot of unknowns, but it shouldn't matter much against VMI.
NIU 38 @ Wyoming 31. Yes, EMU beat the Cowboys last season. But they have a good coach, a lot of experience returning, and the 1st string QB who went down in the EMU game is back. Wyoming has a very good RB; their defense is the concern. NIU in a close game.

Not one of you has Penn. St covering 22.5 pts. vs one of last year's worst offenses which is going with a true freshman QB and the one quality receiver out for the season. You're banking on the Flashes scoring multiple times on defense and special teams? Wow.
Kent had a ST TD against Toledo and held our offense which is way better than PSU's to 38? I dont think Penn State is that good.

I have you losing by 17 and scoring 10. Call me a MAC homer, if you want.

Are you planning on keeping track of each persons scores from week to week? Or is this just for the fun of it?

RE: Week 1 Pick'Em
I won't do scores, but
Central Michigan over Presbyterian big
Eastern Michigan over Mississippi Valley St big
Georgia St over Ball St close
(should be a good one)
Buffalo over Albany big
Toledo over Arkansas St close (probably the game to watch as one of our top teams vs one of the Sun Belt's top teams)
Ohio St over Bowling Green St close (that is, BGSU beats the spread)
Western Michigan over Northwestern close (Northwestern was overrated last year, and a top MAC team should be able to beat them)
Penn St over Kent St big
Iowa over Miami big
Ohio over Texas St close (need some wins over average Sun Belt teams)
Akron over VMI big
Northern Illinois over Wyoming big
Overall lot of interesting matchup vs similar Sun Belt teams. Need to win these to increase the MAC's D1 ratings.

The first week is always extremely tough to project. I'm going to take a random flyer on Wyoming. I like their coach, I like their mentality overall and I expect them to come out firing in that first game unlike how they played against EMU. I could be very wrong about that fact as well, but it's the first week and everyone's guess is as good as anyone else's.

CMU has a history of underperforming against FCS opponents in week 1.

Couldn't we have added Appy State @ Tenn?
That was a great game. The football gods shined down on TN at the end for the win.
It had upset written all over it.

It seems like many times when a severe underdog comes out fired up and manages to get a significant lead on a highly favored but lackadaisical team at some point midway thru the game it is almost as if both teams suddenly wake up at the same time and each realizes who they are and each start playing according to everyone's expectations with the underdog suddenly expecting to lose and reverting to the usually fatal "playing not to lose" (sic) while the favored team starts playing with all the confidence in the world even while still behind because the fully expect to win...and usually do.
At least Appalachian State held on against Michigan a decade ago (tempus fugit) and while not finishing the job tonight, they still probably did a better job trying to hold on than Jacksonville State did against Auburn last year. The only saving grace about that game was that at least the Jacksonville State collapse enabled Toledo to claim credit for the major upset of day.
