Geoff is reacting to his numerous attempts last week at the scrimmage to get Rudd to spill the beans. Rudd blew him off with "no comment". That should tell you one of two things. Either we are in or we are out. Rudd knows...Geoff can't get it confirmed. Everyone here has an opinion. At this point, it is a waiting game. My view is that if it was two being added, you would already have it announced.
So it hasn't been a done deal for 18 months?
You people sure do change your story a lot
Nothing has changed.
Yep.

After Austin left, his agenda was to get rid of Josh. Even jabs in articles not directly dealing with the basketball team. One of the few times I've disagreed with him...he should have let the events play out, not push to pass out the torches and pitchforks.

Do you not read your own posts ? "IF"? There are no "IFs" in a done deal
You can read "if it was two being added, you would already have it announced," to mean the only question is whether to go to 4 or just 2 but not 0. And even if it's just 2, Tigers are still in and it would have been announced by now. Or else I'm also a TC sock puppet.
You are right, he is wrong...once again. It's clearly personal with him and his obsession with me. He is fighting a losing battle on this topic. It must bother him that TC might be right while he is dead wrong.

I'll say it again. Being in the Big 12 would be a giant leap for the U Of M. No doubt. More money, better opponents, greater recruiting, keep your coaches, wah da dooo dah! If we don't get it will it smart? You betcha by golly. Sting like the dickens. End of world? F no! We are no worse for wear and now battle tested. As long as the Admin get the importance of sports, then the future is bright. We don't need a Power 5 conference to beat Power 5 teams. We just need the right weapons and off we go!
Go Tigers!

People have a strange way of judging someone as fair depending on if he agrees with them or not...Funny how that works
While that's true, that's not what I was saying. I didn't say I agreed or disagreed with him on either Jerry Gray or Larry Porter or Scott Drew or Tim Floyd. I'm just saying he has jerked the University around by setting his own standards for things, then backtracking when he screwed up - with no accountability.

I think he really likes this city and University and has been fair with the Tigers for the most part and has certainly given them a lot of positive coverage. More so than say Lapides, Woody Paige, Mike DeCourcey, and Wolken. They all ran investigative series or stories that hurt the program. Geoff has never done that though he has been asked to.

if we don't get in it will be the final nail in the coffin. Donations will drop, attendance will drop, corporate support will disappear, hope will be lost and we will eventually just wither away. we're all in on this hand and we either win big or walk away from the table penniless

I'm pretty sure Geoff has contacts with the power boosters-he knows a lot more than he is writing but probably can't verify info through second source.
If we don't get it can we still blame RC or will we find another scapegoat?
If we get in it will be despite what RC did. He waited over a decade to start doing what needed to be done. Why are you still on that clown's jock?

Yes, he let the tail wag the dog. Tom Jurich took over at UL right around the same time that RC took over at Memphis. Jurich chose to be a leader and convince the big boosters to do what needed to be done. RC chose to be a puppet and a yes man.

I'd have to agree with this. Every year, college BB becomes less significant and college FB becomes more significant. I suppose we could become a Butler like BB program, but with the Grizz in town and a generation of new fans being more likely to be Grizz fans, I can't imagine what college BB will be like in 10 years. The problem that college BB has is that teams in China, Germany, Israel, etc.. pay really good money and with Skype, internet, etc.. the risk of leaving college BB for a pro job in Europe, Asia or even Australia is reduced. The upside of staying in school for BB just gets less every year and with it, the quality and excitement of college BB.
RC reminded me of one of those CEOs who knows there is change in the industry, but just keeps milking the cash cow while saying 'look at how much money we are currently making' and probably knowing full well that it won't last forever.
The benefit of getting into the club is HUGE. The cost of not getting in is probably even bigger.
Unlike UCF/USF and even Houston, the surrounding Memphis area is not high-growth, so to rely upon the Memphis MSA to increase the University's profile is not a winning prospect. The University really needs to get in the club.
