Today's mock game
Not looking to have this thread hijacked. Just looking for observations from today's mock game practice. One thing I did notice is Bellamy is definitely not in the slot. Did anyone else observe the practice, if so what were your thoughts

Did he play? RB?

RE: Today's mock game
I remember someone that had been to spring practices saying Bellamy wasn't playing at receiver, but now he's listed on the official site as a WR, so I'm curious too.

He was listed as a WR all of last season as well. Perhaps the coaching staff is hoping to utilize him as a slot guy, or coming out of the backfield. Plug him in to different sets. We'll see.

The only reps I saw on the field for him in the Single setback tailback position. Crazy blazing speed

Once that kid gets past the line of scrimmage there is no stopping him. I see him as a third or fourth down back that not only makes the first down but Takes it to the house. Talking about a game changer

RE: Today's mock game
You're talking Bellamy, right?
He played RB last year. Was the fastest guy on the team last year and had several big runs.
Phil Steele had him moving to slot. Sounds like he's working as a RB still.
Who was lining up in 3 wide? I'm guessing Davis, Henry, Thompson.

RE: Today's mock game
Between Bellamy and Eskridge, we might have the fastest backfield in the MAC. I'm excited to see what Bellamy can do in his sophomore year. He was amazing last year and only got better as the season progressed. The game at Ohio was unbelievable (9 carries, 149 yards, 16.6 YPC)! 6.4 YPC on the season as a true frosh!
Bogan (6.5 YPC LY), Franklin (29 TDs first 2 seasons), Bellamy...

NO. DOUBT. He jumps off the freaking screen, and in person, I couldn't believe how FAST he gets out of the backfield when running a route. SO FREAKING FAST.

Seriously, it appears it is verboten. Funny, Couch and I would put up regular updates on observations from practice. The only caviar from the SID was don't film formations. Now the best we can do is to tell us that a guy we already know is fast, "is fast."

RE: Today's mock game
Yes they are very park ok'd about practice watchers. Damn spell checker.
But based on what I observed in games last year, he is indeed fast. Doesn't look fast except all of the sudden he is 12 yards downfield and you don't recall how he got there. Not the crazed back and forth like Braverman. Bellamy is just find a tiny gap, squirt through it, and cash in your 12 yards of North and South.
He can catch the ball and take a hit.
Some how I'd like to see a 2 back set with Franklin in an up back role and Bogan or Bellamy in a classic halfback thing. Make the linebacker decide which side of center he's going to favor. Pick wrong and you are screwed. Pick correctly and you've got a fullback, pulling guard or blocking tight end running over your butt.
That balanced game with an effective run phase is a thing of beauty, and my impression is it will be the real deal.
