W. Mich on the other hand plays @Northwestern, NC Central, @Illinois so there is a chance they could really be anywhere from 1-2 to 3-0. If they are 1-2, I think we are favored. If they are 2-1, I think they are slight favorites (assuming they lost to Northwestern), if they are 3-0 they are going to be definite favorites.

Goso probably should be favored against WMU, but WMU will be 3-0. Middle big10 teams and especially slow offensive teams like NW are no match for WMU, NIU, Toledo, BG (type) offenses. Even if NW is a better defensive team, they dont see the fast offenses like those. Goso and App State would beat NW as well. They are in that fast offense category.

NW is always trash and ends up with 9/10 wins based on poor OOC scheduling and a weak Big10 division. It's amazing they climbed as high as they did before getting smoked by Michigan. Iowa and Wisconsin will show them who's boss, but the Indiana's and Purdue's make the voters believers time and time again. Count on NW to get national respect (wrongfully) and for WMU to beat them.

If WMU is 2-1 I will be sad. I expect W's.

All that being said, Goso is the toughest OOC team WMU plays. That stadium isn't a big deal, but will be when they are buzzing on the national radar.

Not if we jam them first...

I gotta say if we go 12-0 then I don't think I'll be worried about if 12-0 is good enough.

How about if UT wins the SEC? Granted thats a big jump in assumptions but I don't see them being left out if they are undefeated and UT wins the SEC. Same goes for GS and Ole Miss.

Guess it depends what UTk and Miami do in that scenario. If UTk wins the SEC and Miami goes to the ACC championship game it could happen.

But now we're talking about a ~5% chance App beats UTk, compounded by a ~30% chance App beats Miami, compounded by both performing as stated above after losing to App at ~2%. At best this is a 1 in 3,000 shot. But there's a chance right.

The part of this discussion I really find lacking is the conference game situation. Almost everyone has a let down game eventually; Apps was against Troy, GS against GSU, Arkansas St again GSU, Troy against Idaho, Idaho against Ohio, Texas St versus anyone. Even if App were to win against Miami AND Tennessee, history has shown that it still isn't likely to run the conference slate (see 2007; Loss to GS and Wofford, Win at Michigan, and National Championship)

Still no. If by miracle that did happen, those would be the only 2 teams of merit on their schedule vs P5 teams that may play 4-5 ranked teams throughout the season.

This unless somehow every P5 champ has three losses in the second half of the season and a G5 beats every team by 21+ including the P5's on the schedule and the P5's are ranked. Also an alien race comes to earth and says it will blow us up unless a G5 makes the playoffs

Then maybe...

They go to 8 P5 conf champs are all in and unless they completely separate from the G5 and NCAA I think they throw us a bone. It will not be auto but maybe some minimum requirements like the highest G5 will be automatic if ranked in the top 10.

Maybe one of the mods could rename the thread something like "A Midsummer's Night Dream."
