What is the longest winning streak in CUSA history and who owns it?

Southern Miss?

Houston?

Louieville?

I just checked it and S. Miss has 14 straight CUSA wins over 3 seasons

1998 loss to Tulane then won 5 CUSA games 1999 won all 6 and 2000 won their first 3 before losing to UofL

Thanks for looking it up. We honestly should win the home game against Rice and that would tie us with USM. Which would be impressive.

Last year we did something no CUSA team had ever done which was running the table AND winning the conference championship game. I'd love to see us win the Rice game and then pull the road upset at La Tech to do another thing no CUSA team has ever done. Win 15 in a row.

I'm very proud what this group of Toppers has done. Can't really put into words how much I've enjoyed this run.

Nice job WKU..but we were playing ECU, Louisville, TCU, Houston, Tulane etc., not a watered down C-USA that included a shell-shocked USM.

Just sayin'05-stirthepot

But excellent job regardless...

RE: Who breaks WKU's 13 game CUSA winning streak?
I love basketball but football is quickly over taken it for me. I guess winning plays a in role in that but right now I can't see any regular season basketball game making me miss a football game. But then again with only 12, 13 or 14 games compared to 30 or more...each football is more important.

Not long ago (1AA) I would make it down to BG for a couple home games but I always listened on radio. Now I fell in love with Western football again. Hell as a kid (up till I started working at 13) we would climb the cutout in the stadium wall, I guess 25 feet and spiderman the wall to get in. Or if we had enough money between 3 of us we would buy one ticket and drop it down to the other two. Didn't want to wait till halftime...when you got in free.

Hopefully that same feeling for basketball returns...I use to get so nervous I walled the floor up top Diddle instead of watching from my seat. Well I had a phobia (couldn't stand people on all sides of me) that played a part in that. It was getting there the year before last when we made all the road games but Minn. Missed a couple home games because of football but I other than that we made all of them. So I hope I'm wrong about Stansbury and he gets us bad to were it hurts when you lose.

Other than qb I think this is Western's best team since moving up so hopefully we can tie and then break the CUSA record...and 3 other conference road games!

And while those teams won lately.... can you say the same for the years you played them? I know the answer to that.

Lets put it this way in those 3 years S. Miss got there 14 straight CUSA wins...

S. Miss did not beat a ranked school out of them and Tulane was the only one ranked and S. Miss lost that game.

Well...I don't think you wanna get into comparing beating ranked teams, amigo....

....and you know I never "said" any of those teams were ranked during our streak, just that they were better than anything C-USA has now (top to bottom, NO COMPARISON)....

I think WKU this year was as good (or better) than any team in C-USA when USM had their streak...so don't be so ruffled...but you and I know outside of Marshall (USM still isn't a player until we prove it), your streak came against weak, weak teams...

Not your fault, but it is what it is..

The way some of you talk it's like CUSA was a power conference back in the day...

Those good old days when we walked to school in 3 ft of snow
walked uphill both ways
never backed talked
always ate our veggies
our basketball and football stadium was packed to the rafters

Yep, those good ole days

S. Miss 14 wins

Houston 3-8
Memphis 2-9
East Carolina 6-5
Army 3-8
Louisville 7-5

Tulane 3-8
East Carolina 9-3
Army 3-8
Cincinnati 3-8
Memphis 5-6
Louisville 7-5

Memphis 4-7
Tulane 6-5
Houston 3-8

Not powerhouses...just a lot better TOP TO BOTTOM than any thing we have now.

All those teams were established programs and had been playing football for a hundred years.....while today C-USA has a couple of programs that only had intramural football teams a few years ago.05-nono

Funny...you guys were DYING to get into C-USA to hopefully play those teams....now you sound like the usual outsider naysayers from the 90's and 2000's who downgraded the old C-USA...

and so it goes04-cheers

...by the way..it was 6 ft of snow...in Hattiestown Mississippi!

I understand exactly what you mean and it doesn't mean either of us don't still love our hoops. We both played the hell out of it in our younger days and guarantee we see it at greater depth than many of the morons that think we're headed straight for the top 20 now that Stansbury has taken over. I hope he can but I honestly don't have the same faith in him that I have in Jeff Brohm.

There's just something about Brohm that I always believe he's worth more points than the opposing coach we're facing. If the teams are equal I just believe Coach Brohm will pull something out of his hat. To be honest I've really come around to Coach Holt now that he has something to work with.

I'm very, very excited about this team. I know just like everyone else knows that the QB issue is huge. But as you said this is the most talented team we've ever had.

When I was young I always watched what I could through the fence and went in at halftime. And those were some very good teams back in the day. Some phenomenal defenses.

Why are you trying to move the topic? I didn't downgrade anyone I showed the records and stated a fact....

some of you talk like the old days CUSA was a power conference. 1998 CUSA had 1 ranked team..Tulane who made it to #6 (who beat S. Miss) 1999 1 ranked team. S. Miss #14 2000 0 ranked teams. Good but far from the way you want others to believe it was

I don't care if CUSA is watered down with newbies now... 3-8 is 3-8. You were the one talking about how good Houston and Tulane and ECU and the teams S. Miss beat to win those 14 games. You can move the topic anyway you want but the record of those schools S. Miss beat in those 14 games will not change.

Now look back at who said anything about those teams....

I'm 100% sure you though S. Miss actually beat some great teams in those 14 wins. The record says otherwise. Hey I told you you might not like the answer but you bit anyways

It might drop all the way down to FAU. We always try to play WKU tough and it is at FAU, I think, this season.
