Pac12 Network Announces Live Streaming Deal With Twitter
SAN FRANCISCO (July 14, 2016) – Pac-12 Networks announced today that Twitter will be its premier streaming partner for Pac-12 Plus, a broadband network of live events produced by the conference’s 12 universities, with at least 150 games over the 2016-2017 academic year live streamed to fans on Twitter.
“The Pac-12 Networks’ collaboration with Twitter reflects our ongoing commitment to increasing exposure for Pac-12 universities and their live, school-produced events,” said Pac-12 Networks President Lydia Murphy-Stephans. “By expanding our digital footprint, Pac-12 Plus also allows us to connect more fans with more, live Pac-12 sports content through a platform they use every day.”

BOOM!!! Pac 12 stepping up their game. Hadn't read the article yet... what types of games will twitter stream? Any football or men's basketball or just a slew of non-revs?

well considering the announcement said live, school-produced events- that wouldn't be football or men's basketball at all.

Bunch of non-revs. It'll be interesting to see this unfold and other conferences jump on this bandwagon. Touche Larry Scott.

This is what I want the Big 12 to start doing.... Looks like they aren't moving fast enough on it.

Click on the link, it lists example sports, and it probably means any sport that the schools want to broadcast more of, other than football and basketball, in addition to what is shown on PTN. Probably using equipment that PTN has put on-site at each Pac school but needing school personnel to operate and produce the broadcasts.
As the press release notes, each Pac school already has a live stream page on pac-12.com (Google "[team name] live stream" to find it) on which these events are shown, and Twitter is going to have access to the events shown there.

How do they make money on this? Subscriptions? Or is it just ads? Looks like it would be helpful to Twitter, but how does it help PAC12?

Wait, so everything on the PTN that isn;t what people actually want to see? So I still can't watch the Rutgers/Washington game? That stinks.

Twitter has to start somwhere to get the kinks worked out an imrove the product well enough to stream live football games. That is where the money will be.
I'm hoping the B1G will be working with Apple TV, Twitter, etc, for the next TV rights. Heck, I would like to see Twitter working with the B1G with the current TV contract that may or may not be signed yet - I assume it is signed by now.
B1G has their media days in two weeks I think.
Good to see the Pac 12 getting into this stuff.

RE: Pac12 Network Announces Live Streaming Deal With Twitter
So can anyone with internet access watch these live streams?? Or do you need a subscription to a bundle that has P12N included?
There are no kinks for Twitter to work out, as a distributor of streaming video. Otherwise, the NFL would not have signed with them. Twitter just says "give us the live feed, and we'll put it out on the internet". They have that game pretty well covered.
I think Wedge has the idea pretty well nailed down. P12N gives the school the equipment to do a "homebrew" production of a volleyball game, for example. P12N gets the content, a few people will watch, and they basically don't have to pay anything for it. They're just parking the equip there and don't have to pay any professional talent (production or on-screen) to produce the content. Good deal ... for what it is.

I was hoping for Utah hockey to be fast-tracked to move up to D1 with ASU, but it sounds like lacrosse is first in line.
