Happen to glance at the Buckeyes' future FB schedules and saw FAU, Tulane, Tulsa, and UNLV on there. Amazing how the Buck's are sending $$$ out of the state when good MAC programs are available to schedule.
I can understand the Texas, TCU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma games. Giving money to FAU versus Toledo, c'mon now! State government should not allow this.

When they scheduled a 1AA program (and not even a quality one), it was pretty much over for the tradition of scheduling a state school in Ohio in the non-conference.

The money is one thing. OTOH, it's fairly clear that the Columbus mob is not going to let any in-state team beat OSU, so why sign up for an automatic 'L' ?

RE: OSU
If auto wins are their goal, they picked some of the best young coaches in the country to do it against. All fairly new to their school with impressive resumes. All with heavy southern connections even to the high schools, one at Plantation High in Fl and another at Bishop Gorman, both prep powers.

Somehow I don't think OSU made that schedule because they're worried about losing in-state, not now that their coaching is stable. We had our chance, we capitalized well except for that whole ref cheating thing.

So put the asterisk next to their "never lost in-state" record. We know that's not true. Also not true they're trying to avoid it with those OOC schedules. Those schools are going to know how to play, if they can hold onto those coaches for a few years.

Toledo, BG and Ohio have given the Bucks all they could handle in the last decade. Gone are the days of beating up on the little guys in state. Didn't the B1G drop their MAC scheduling recently as well?

RE: OSU
With all the moaning and complaining about OSU and their fans, why would they feel the need to schedule us and give us a nice payday? I'm sure the decision makers don't read the boards and that is not a valid reason as to why we have not been scheduled again - or is it? (jkg)

I guess I have no problem with being both a UT and an OSU fan. I was once one of those obnoxious OSU fans for a few years. The worst fans they have are always the ones that never set foot in a classroom there (including a lot of UT alumni). I grew up understanding OSU and Toledo had a significant difference in the "wealth" of each program. I like a lot about OSU and the game day experience there. I dated someone at OSU while I was in college - and went to a lot of their games. But, I still cheer for UT to beat them every time they play them.

I would want to see them schedule us often as it is not only a great payday, but it also helps with recruiting. They did us a huge favor with the Cleveland home game - for which UT sold how many tickets to fans that were cheering for Toledo? Maybe 10K? If that.

What other national powerhouse program would do that for us?

Arkansas is mad at Michigan for cancelling games with them so that Michigan could play Notre Dame. Michigan is paying Arkansas a couple million dollars for breaking their contract.

The UT president has Arkansas connections. Wouldn't it be great to pick up a few million dollars for the chance to beat Arkansas again? Neither Penn State or Michigan will ever schedule Toledo again but maybe Arkansas has the gonads to give it another shot.

Both games were fun experience. Would be nice to have another but it's all their call. Unless they make a policy that a state school will be scheduled once a year or something, does our AD even have the kind of relationship he could approach them about another home and home?

I've seen Michigan. I've seen Ohio St, Cincinnati. More than another OSU, I'd like to see the one other area power on our schedule, ND. That would near complete the fan experience for me and visits to all the iconic venues but we've scheduled so far ahead, I doubt that would happen in the coming decade.

RE: OSU
Funny thing is Michigan and Michigan State haven't scheduled any MAC games this year. Maybe this is a move to help with national recruiting for these schools. I know they don't have any problems filling their stadiums for games against UT or FAU. Although it would be nice for the big paydays as MAC schools we will have to seek out the big paydays harder since our backyard is drying up. BG maybe the last MAC OSU game for a while.

Former "mid-major" turned PAC-12 member? Love to have a 2 for 1 deal with them. That'd be a fun road trip...

Something after the slopes open would be nice. Maybe we can get AD to start scheduling cool places over Thanksgiving or Fall Break so UT people can combine. Or is that when they schedule the auto-win? Rather have the nice trip. Is there an FBS in the Caribbean?

Would love to see a home and home with Army. I have heard that West Point is beautiful in the fall. UT has played Navy multiple times, why not Army? Army has played multiple other MAC schools.

I'll second that. Heck, same all of them. One or two years with all would be a heck of a schedule.

Definitely a matchup with Houston would be interesting. Also Mich St and WV and ND (which would never happen). I dont have an interest in Alabama.

Also would be interested in Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota again, or even Kentucky, Tennessee

It would be fun to see the Rockets at some of those places, but I do like the strategy of scheduling home/home with other good mid majors instead of being exclusively on the road against Power 5 teams. On your list, only UCF, USF, and maybe Rutgers or Vandy would consider a game at Toledo.

Louisville is playing@Marshall. Big thing with away games for me is the ability to fly in and out easily, unless it's a drivable distance. I see cheap flights to LA X and Newark all the time.

One and done with a BIG name (not looking at you Vandy), iconic program I think is still great, at least every other year, which would basically be two games for each player. I think it would be great to reward our players with an opportunity to play in the Rose Bowl or Nebraska.... even if there's no reciprocation and even better if it's a pay-day.

Bigger program P5, 2 for 1.

Vandy's and Rutgers of the world, home and home or nothing, basically the same I'd hope for with a good mid-major. I'm still not seeing the value of the FCS games but some are real proponents of them so there must be something to that.

The Academies though, those are special. Love to see it made some sort of unofficial policy, attempt to have one of them on the schedule every year.
