What if USM and La Tech went back to the Gulf States Conference?
It is summertime and the Marshall guy did a thread.
USM, USA, UAB, Troy, Lafayette, Monroe and La Tech. If oui decided to expand pick up other former GSC members McNeese State, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana.
It's regional and fits perfectly with what one of our former ADs wanted.

That'd be the start to a good league. IMO you would have your choice of stealing Texas schools or schools in the East.

I know its summer time and these threads are really done in jest, but that is exactly what the big boys all want us to do...set our programs back 50 years. Northwestern St. is a formal rival from the golden years of the State Fair game and they beat us two years ago for the first time decades, but they couldn't compete on a daily basis. You are talking about 3 more LA schools moving up to D1. We already have two too many FBS schools in LA. The Gulf States Conference had its time and like the SWC, that time is gone. I look forward to the glory years ahead in the CUSA.

Can we just all agree that the board needs to be shut down until fall camps start? Summertime here sucks.

I would vote for that, except I keep coming back. Its the sudden realization that you are part of the problem not the solution, that gets me every time.

Add Memphis and Tulane and I'm on board! Not that my vote counts, but in an apocalyptic situation, that'd be some easy road trips for us.

Coda now is mostly nobodies who wanted to be somebodies but most of the group with whom they wanted to affiliate to aid them in becoming sombodies just flew the coop which means they will remain nobodies. Rather than wallow with nobodies from near and afar why not forget the far outs and reorganize to bring in more close ins. This will help financially due to almost non existent travel costs as well as butts in the seats.

Don't care about travel costs. I'd rather actually play other schools that give a **** about basketball.

Please stop these scenarios. I don't want our AD seeing it and buying in. This crap is stupid beyond words.

The former AD with his name on the end zone wanted this kind of conference. I wish I could find the quote on it. I do recall when this all started, he said, "We will be fine." Now here oui are.

Not that I'm in any way for leaving this conference but the Marshall thread was about determining if the MAC is going to be in a better place than CUSA for the foreseeable future, would they accept us back, and would we wish to go. Jumping DOWN to the GSC is in no way related to the MAC thread. Most of the MAC schools have had Division 1 football teams longer than many of our school have had...well...schools.
