Ok, oops. One year at Tulane. One year at a JUCO. Listed as a RS Soph by VerbalCommits. So he does have three years of eligibility -- yes?

So why is VerbalCommits calling him a red shirt soph?

He's definitely a true Junior.

Freshman Year 2014-15 at Tulane
Sophomore Year 2015-16 at Northwest Florida
Junior Year 2016-17 at ODU

Think it's just an error at VC.

Verbal commits isn't always correct. I've submitted a few corrections just for our team alone over the last year. I think they rely on the fans for the mid-majors. So anyway, if someone has an article that shows he will be a Junior when he arrives (even though I thought JuCo's were always Juniors upon arrival) then either link it here and I'll correct it or send it in to VC to correct it :)

Edited spelling

Edited again: I just went ahead and submitted his game logs to VC. It should be updated soon.

I thought JUCO counted as a RS year? Wouldn't he come to us a RS-Soph?

He's a true Junior. He's used 2 years of eligibility. He has two left. Eligible immediately.

No. You can only redshirt when you are on a roster and don't play. He played both years. He has 2 years of eligibility left and can still be redshirted if need be. He's a true Junior.

So has it already been asked why this guy left Tulane and ended up going JuCo? looks like a healthy add to the program but just curious.

It seems like they had a lot of turnover the year he left. Wondering if it had something to do with the coaching staff. Ricky Tarrant left that year and transferred to Memphis and I believe another player did the same. I think three guys left that year. It's a guess that it is on the coaching staff.

I wonder why he didn't try and transfer? He would be a RS So now if he did.

Lots of transfers from Tulane under coach Ed Conroy, including 1-2 kids who transferred in from other schools only to transfer again. Strange. As to why he didn't seek D-1 transfer? No idea.

That's what he'd be for the 2016-17 season yeah. It's possible he didn't want to sit out a year and went the Juco route instead in order to keep playing.

There's the real question.

If you read here, it sounds like his and Tarrant's scholarships weren't renewed. It was also late in the cycle. Didn't give them much time to find a new landing spot. JuCo makes perfect sense in that situation.

Could be he intended to transfer to a D-1, didn't like the offers he got, and decided to go JUCO to improve his game and draw better suitors.

I can't watch a Warriors game without being reminded of Saah Nimley. Four feet out past the three-point line? Too bad, shot's going in anyway.

Kay Felder (The short little guard from Oakland) was drafted @ #54 yesterday by my Cavs. I don't think he'll crack the roster but at least he will get a chance to show some other teams how his game translates at the next level in the summer league .
