RE: Iowa State not compelled to expand away from 10

I don't think I'm well versed to talk in that area and I think the ACC schools are happy where they are currently.
I'm kinda shocked you'll don't want us in your conference. I think if Iowa State couldn't make it into another power conference I would want to be in the AAC. We finally have a president that cares about athletics and wants to make our football team and basketball team the face of the university. We support our teams like no other even if we are losing. I think football is trending up, we just had our best recruiting class in school history and a very exciting young coaching staff.
We have the third largest stadium in the big 12 and we are number two in attendance for the big 12 and 19 in the nation for basketball. We hold the 3rd longest streak of consecutive weeks in the top 25 (it's been 5 years since we have been unranked).
We have a large alumni base and I think we would have one of the largest fan bases if we joined the AAC. We travel well and throw some of the best tailgates. I think the AAC could land ISU and KState.
I know we are the most attractive school but a former P5 school would be a big get for any conference. The AAC is my favorite G5 conference and I know Iowa State would rep it well if it came down to us joining it.
Do not listen to these clowns. ISU is a great school that has great fans that support athletics. Jealousy runs rampant on this board.

With what we have, why should we?
An AAU big state school that gets 60k to Jack Trice every Saturday, and 3k more on average to Hilton for wrestling meets than 4 AAC schools do for basketball games? No. We wouldn't want that in our conference.
Cheers!
A football team that doesn't carry a significant market (their state has a smaller population than 5 of the markets our schools are in: Houston, Dallas, Orlando, Tampa-St. Pete, Philadelphia, and is comparable to Cincinnati's), they have only won 9 games in football once in the last CENTURY, and are about as elite as mud in their Olympic sports outside of Wrestling, which this conference doesn't care about. In other words, they'd be an also-ran in this conference, probably just like Texas Tech.
They'd prolly pound Cincy in football, like we all do
What is that? One in a row?

Obviously if the Big 12 ceased to exist, the AAC would jump all over the chance to add Iowa State (or any other team left out). And I guarantee every single person on this thread would be happy to be conference mates with Iowa State. Folks here are just a little bitter about the state of affairs in college athletics, and understandably so.

I have said several times that I have the greatest respect and admiration for ISU and would be proud for my school to be affiliated with the Cyclones despite their less than stellar national brand, TV market and recruiting territory.
