I am sure some of you will voice your outrage at such low brow tactics. Did he take techs cotton candy machine too?
Coaches leave and recruits do too. Sometimes they follow the coach to the new school. Certainly not unique to Cal.
But surely you understand how some would be bitter, when we were setup to have the top recruiting class of the decade, and it all got blown up.
It has to do with context and expectations.

Then you want Memphis to be a mediocre program with no realistic shot at Elite 8 and double digit losses most years.
How you figure that, when he was talking about winning? Think more Gonzaga, Wichita State.

About throwing games and cheating. It seems to me that a situation like that plays out in the action. It's kinda hard for me to believe that someone, who holds such power in his choices, can totally decide ahead of time exactly which way he wants the situation to go..until it starts playing out.
Sometimes fate has its say too.

RE: Clergeot a Tiger
I haven't really been keeping up. How many of Tech's recruits have we ended up with?
Did Cal THROW the Missouri game? No, not in the sense of losing intentionally but was he DISTRACTED during the week leading up to game cutting his deal with KY? I think he was and I think it did have an impact on our performance.
Did I think Cal was a SLIMEBALL for "struggling" with the decision to take the KY job for 2-3 days while he was really just using that time to communicate with the recruiting class. Yes I do. It's not the fact that the class fell apart and some of them ended up at KY; it was the 2-3 day "struggle" leading up to how it all turned out.
Those are my thoughts and opinions on the matter.

A class that Josh Pastner helped dismantle in that 2-3 day period.

Will provide a body for practice and could become a contributor by his senior year. Interesting that so many are praising Orlando for doing the same thing they vilified Cal for doing. Was a Texas Tech signee under Orlando.

At a place like Memphis you should be able to consistently put together top 20 recruiting classes.
It s pretty late in the game to expect a top 100 recruit, thanks to Pastner bolting so late. Can't blame Tubby Smith for a rather bare recruiting class (comparatively speaking) this year.
But I do expect for this team to look light years better in terms of discipline, execution, and game management that anything Pastner ever put on the court. We will win some games this year we probably shouldn't, given the lack of talent and depth. And that always bodes well for the future.
Coach that replaced Orlando at TT had no problem getting a quality PG recruit out of Juco market and he was hired AFTER Orlando took the Memphis job.

Just sick of the hypocrisy in here heaping praise on someone for doing a piss poor job recruiting and already making excusing for why he is not doing better. Hell the guy that replaced him at TT got a graduate transfer PF from Arkansas St which would have been perfect for our needs.
Sick of people claiming that it is because he got here so late. While the guy who replaced him at TT, which according to many is a much harder place to recruit, has signed two top Juco guards and a grad transfer PF since he has arrived. Which was AFTER Orlando arrived in Memphis.
While we are losing recruiting battles for bargain basement Juco players to a below mid major school.

Any chance possible that he maybe carefully selecting the pieces to add to this years roster? Any chance that his major focus would be for the 2017 class and beyond? Do YOU think that we may be better coached on the floor?

So like I said their little sports fan egos were hurt? Only a 3 year old or an adult with issues would react that way.
Did it suck? Sure. Was it worth claiming the man threw basketball games and had an affair? Nah, probably not.
