I was being serious, I would have liked Ark State before La Tech. WKU has a stupid name, mascot, and is in a stupid state.
You left off the one thing that you really hate about Western...
we both know what that is. Those other things we named are covers for the real reason. But hey if it makes you feel better.
The ignorant fans! Hey you guys were better on the field/court but I still never wanted you in the conference to begin with.

But not the most stupid state in the union, at least.
I agree West Virginia is 48th with Oklahoma 49th and Ohio 50th in states

Weird.
Part of the reason Arkansas State fans show so little interest in CUSA is because of Charlotte, FIU, and FAU. FAU and FIU are sort of "Been there, done that for us" For some reason they were always our least attended games on the schedule, and our fans never traveled when we played there on the road. We don't recruit Florida, so there's no benefit of exposure. Charlotte has no real football name value yet, and judging by how few fans attend our games against Georgia State, there's something to name value with our fans.
Honestly, that New Orleans Bowl stunk this year...I mean it was pure agony and torture, but every single one of us would admit we'd rather lose to La Tech 10 times than play Charlotte once. Well, probably not that much, but you get my point.
We saw that with North Texas previously. They used to be a big rival for us, but the last 8 years they were in the SBC, we beat them, and many times it wasn't close. It just sort of became boring for our fans, so they didn't come or travel. ULM is heading that direction for us now at home. We haven't played a close game against them in a while, and the games are becoming boring.

Awesome! Because Charlotte fans feel the same way about the Arkansas State whatever you are. I am sure I am uneducated about all the unparalleled successes of your athletic program's history. No come to think of it, I don't even know what city your fine university exists in. I appreciate you coming over to our conference's board to tell us how you don't care about us and two of our other programs. The Sun Belt has a very nice board elsewhere.

It has nothing to do with any of what you talked about. I just simply pointed that we don't draw well for start up programs. Never have, never will.
That's nothing against you guys. You're probably going to have a pretty darn good program eventually, it's just how it is right now. Likewise, I wouldn't expect Arkansas State to carry any name value with you guys because we're probably not the first thought over there when it comes to College Football.

I have made it known that I didn't like the addition of Charlotte. I think in time you guys could be great, blah blah, been there, not what this is about.
I believe this is your first trip to Marshall for a game? I always pay attention to the amount of visiting fans. I was really disappointed with the amount ODU brought if I remember correctly. Changed my perception of them a bit.
How many fans you honestly think you guys can bring? Any decent amount would earn my respect.
RE: What CUSA's new TV deal may tell us about conference expansion...
I respect WKU and MTSU for what they have done on the field the last 2 years or so. I don't think anyone can argue that you guys were a bad addition to the league.
I don't mind being in a league with you guys at all.

Hard to say. We don't have a strong alumni base in WV so most will be coming from NC. We have a group of about 20 coming but are traveling independently from the university. Our group is traveling to one away game (4 hours or more) per year and this is our one this year. We are really looking forward to it. Have heard nothing but good things from others that have visited.

Hard to say. If it was game 1, probably a fair amount. If we are having a decent season probably 500-1000.
We had over 1500 at the georgia state game last year, but that was game 1. If we played that game in November thst number probably would have only been a few hundred.
Who knows though. Atlanta is a good draw for tourists, making the trip more enticing. Huntington not so much. A football game, aquarium trip, and a tour of coke (all of which are around Olympic park) makes for an entertaining family weekend.
If we are competitive and fun to watch this season, I'll go with 500-1000. If it's a repeat of last year, less than 100.

Disagree.. Need to be more regional:
MU
ODU
WKU
App
Gsou
FAU
UAB
USM
LT
Charlotte
Assuming Rice et al to MWC... Not grabbing UAB would be a big mistake imho. ASU wants no part of CUSA, so leave them alone. GaSo and App have made it clear that they would like to be back in a conference with Marshall...and this fan wouldn't mind that at all.
Correction: We want no part of a 14 team conglomeration that includes a few schools we have absolutely zero history with, and basically similar NCAA money combined with crazier travel.
On the other hand, we would be interested in a much smaller 10-12 team version of a league that cherry picked the top football programs out of CUSA (and maybe the MAC) with the goal of challenging the MWC and AAC. It's just that our current administration feels that neither the Sun Belt nor CUSA can challenge the top G5 leagues in their current set up, so we might as well stay Sun Belt and keep the games our fans want.
I'm still pretty convinced that if the MAC dumped a few of its weaker programs that we would show interest in them as well.
For instance:
Marshall
WKU
La Tech
USM
Toledo
NIU
Bowling Green
AState
App State
Georgia Southern
MTSU
That's a strong league that We would be interested in.
That would be awesome. I would LOVE that. Only thing I'd do different is drop BG and replace them with Ohio, and it would be perfect.
Yes, Id drop app state and GSU for now though instead of bowling green. Keep UAB, Add Ohio. That would be a heck of a conference, but will never happen unfortunately.
