In an effort to get more conversation during this slow summer period, what do you guys do to pass the extra time away until football and basketball season starts again?

Myself, I get a lot of work done around the house and outside so the honeydo list will be completed before the first kickoff. We also spend a lot of time at summer festivals. Here in Rochester, the festivals start around mid May and end in mid October and there is usually some type of festival going on every week. Very rarely will I visit a festival after September 1st. We also do a little traveling all over NYS, from the city to the Adirondaks.

The ADKs are a fun time. IMHO, that and NYC are 2 of the top 5 best places on Earth. That's why I love NY.

There's a little event in Omaha that you should check out. We picked up a nice trophy there last year.

Always doing some type of home improvement project/repair during the summer. I have to get caught up on some interior painting that works out well when it's too hot/humid outside. Enjoy working in our garden too. Love grilling outdoors this time of year. My family also typically takes a trip to our favorite North Carolina beach but this year we are going on a Disney Cruise for the first time in early July. Looking forward to visiting the Bahamas and the private island owned by Disney. Have reserved one excursion getting in the water with dolphins and another one doing some snorkeling. Can't wait!

Fish, swim, get things ready for hunting season, take either a beach or mountain trip, tend my small garden, grill out several times a week.

I used to fish at least a couple times a week with a group of buddies from my congregation. But now the fishing license is at least $25 last I heard. I haven't been fishing in about five years. There's a lake up in Lake Placid called Mirror Lake that's so clear and calm that it really looks like a mirror. I've been very tempted to get a license just to fish in that lake.

My wife used to complain about how much I would spend between hunting & fishing license, big game permit, state and federal duck stamps, etc. up until I started taking her fishing.

When I hunt or fish out of state I try not to tell her how much that costs. She would have had a stroke if she knew it took me 10 overtime shifts to pay for the trip to Arkansas to shoot ducks.

Cuse, have you checked out Old Forge, Ny and while there Enchanted Forrest/ Water safari ? it's up in the Adirondacks. Fun weekend. I usually take a road off Rt 12 South of Booneville. Rt 28 at Alder creek & Rt12 it's a Really curvy road but quite scenic way to get there. Another favorite is Sackets Harbor, Ny just outside of Watertown, Ny Great Micro Brewery there too on the Lake Ontario. Farther North on I-81, Alexandria Bay and Thousand Island, Ny are great times too.04-cheers

Summer, fall, winter, spring it's all the same. Kids & work are 24/7. Do like to take the kids to the zoo a couple times during the summer & maybe a weekend getaway during the fall. There's a nice park by home that has a good water park for the kids. Used to camp & boat a lot.

Spent a lot of time in the thousand Islands while growing up, Alexandria Bay. Ny family used to go up there a couple times a year to fish. Beautiful country!. I've spent way more time in Sackets Harbor than I would have liked to when I worked as a manufacturers rep. I hated driving around up there in the winter. Did it for 10 years. Never been to Old Forge but have heard of Enchanted Forest/Water Safari. Not a bad idea. May check it out this summer.

I also tend to do a good bit of yard work. I have these delusions that Southern Living magazine will eventually come to take pictures of our back yard. We'll see.

I've been there 3 times since 1995 , not a bad place. The whole town is full of shops. I've never been inside but I know when getting off at the Verona exit on I-90 to head north towards Rome and beyond every other car is heading towards Turning stone Casino. Huge complex. You might have been there Yourself if You like Gambling. I'm not big on it Myself though.
Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone ! Welcome Summer !04-cheers
