How many baseball bids will we get this year?
I m thinking only Louisiana is a given. South Al if they can get RPI and keep it under 40 should go but loss to UTA did not help. Plus another team if someone else wins the tourney

If USA makes it to the weekend, I think they're fine. I think they're a decent bet even if they just win on Thursday. But a two-and-out could be a cherry on the poop sundae that has been the Jags' last month.
ULL is golden and is a lock for a 2 seed if they make it to the weekend.
As an Eagle fan, I'm rooting for GS to beat either ULL or USA in title game. I think that scenario will get three teams into regionals

I know you want your team in the post season, but does it do the conference good to get three teams in with, say in your scenario, GS, USA, and UL if it means UL is not the conference tourney champ and therefore would be unlikely to host a regional? Us hosting gives us the best shot of making a third straight Super and possibly in the CWS. I guess it's the argument of is the conference likely to get a team far into the post season by getting more teams in (quantity), all of whom will have to travel to a regional, or less teams teams which are more highly rated (quality) and could advance far by playing at home.
And yes if you read college baseball publications, UL is being talked about as possibly grabbing one of last host spots or at least a #1 seed (see both D1Baseball and Baseball America's latest projections). So I don't want to see any replies acting as if I'm talking crazy right now. RPI is currently 18th and the gap is not large in the 13-19 range, so there is possibility for movement. Not to mention UNC with their 15 RPI will not host. No way. They didn't make the ACC tourney. So you can make the argument that only 16 teams with an RPI higher than the Cajuns have arguments to be made for being host sites. Along with 1 or 2 schools with RPI's lower than the Cajuns who could be selected as hosts mainly because of geography.

Yes, unless you uys make the College World Series. Remember, we were a 1 bid league 2 years ago when you guys were top 10, and it didn't help league perception at all, despite you guys coming within a game of Omaha.

I'm not sure it's likely we get 3 teams in, simply because it almost looks like if someone other than ULL or USA wins, that team might get in at the expense of USA. Jags really can't afford to lose tomorrow.

Only one team in the regionals. Y'all know what that means.
I simply have a hard time pulling for any of you guys. Every year y'all, as a group, hope we lose this or that for the betterment of the Suck Belt. How about going out and scheduling a top twenty RPI and win some important games instead of hoping to back door an invite? Pathetic and petty.

In what conference does everyone not want the champ to get knocked off?

There was a discussion on here during the basketball tourney whether it would be better if LR lost and we got two teams in or if LR won out and got the highest seed possible. Luckily for LR they won out, because the selection committee would have screwed them and not given them an at large.

I just don't see how having 3 teams vs 2 teams not make it out of a regional really helps the league's perception.

How is hoping to win the conference tournament a back door invite?

I am a UL fan and certainly want the Cajuns to win the tournament. However, I can't see any scenario where getting multiple teams into the post season, in any sport, hurts the image of the league! More is always better. However, this year I can't see the SBC getting more than 2 teams max into the tournament and if the Cajuns win the tournament, more than likely they will be the only team going.

I'm sure Cajun fans would rather get multiple bids to the conference than host a regional. I don't understand why every other fan base has to be team first and conference second.

The Cajuns are in the NCAA. If they win the tournament, they are a host site. They might be, even with a trip to the finals.
South Alabama, as the co-champion, is in the tournament today, but they absolutely cannot afford a two and cue scenario. That would probably doom them. They need to win today and maybe even tomorrow to be sure.
If someone other than those two win, then you get a third.
Georgia Southern looked good yesterday, albeit against a terrible pitching staff. Kuhnel vs. Cohen should be a good one this afternoon.

I agree. Especially if USA loses today.
