You guys aren't in a bad spot. Only App sponsors every sport. USA is at 17/18, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Texas State and Troy sponsor 16/18.
Arkansas State, Georgia Southern and Georgia State don't sponsor three sports. UTA is at four. Little Rock sponsors only 13 of 18.
The ones the Red Wolves miss out on are men's soccer, of which only three regular conference members compete and awards a maximum of six points, men's tennis, of which only seven compete and softball, of which nine compete. Arkansas State misses out on a maximum of 22 points.
Compare that to UTA which doesn't field men's soccer (3 members/6 points), football (9/11), women's soccer (10) and women's golf (9). UTA leaves a maximum of 36 points on the table. Despite that handicap, the Mavs still finished two points out of first last year.
Then there's Little Rock, likely to never have a chance to win. The don't have anything in men's soccer (3/6), football (9/11), men's tennis (7), women's tennis (10) and softball (9). They leave a max of 43 points on the table.
Coastal will help UTA next year, assuming they beat them of course. Coastal sponsors 17 SBC sports. Oddly, despite having an outdoor men's team and a cross country men's team, they don't seem to have an indoor men's team.
