Giving a quick look at the golf standings, looks like USA will have a ten point lead. App stays second, but stAte and UTA will be within four points. Georgia State 2.5 or 3.5 behind UTA and with one aharad or ties with Texas State.

After this, we have the track meets, baseball and softball left, correct?

Check your points for AState in Men's golf. There are 11 teams, AState finished 3rd. You only gave us 5 points though when we should get 9. I think you accidentally gave our points to Texas State and gave us their points

We get points in 14 of 18 conference sports. The sports we do best in have the least amount of conference competitors, save men's soccer. We have some ground to make up there. On a points per sport basis, we are usually number 1.

With 3 sports left in the Bubas Cup race, South Alabama has clinched no worse than a tie with Texas State for the championship, and that's ONLY if South Alabama loses all 6 of their remaining baseball conference games, Texas State wins all 6 of theirs, AND Texas State finishes first (untied) in both outdoor track and field championships and South Alabama finishes last in both. In other words, congratulations on back to back Bubas Cup championships, Jaguars.

RE: 2015-2016 Bubas Cup
So, barring an absolute miracle, Texas State will finish sole 2nd (They'll finish higher than us in baseball unless something crazy happens this weekend.

We still do however have a pretty good shot at finishing higher than UTA, and take 3rd place in Bubbas, which I believe would be our highest result ever. Side note: Man Georgia Southern has had a tough year athletically.

Amazing that we will finish that high while not sponsoring a handful of sports. Maybe when softball comes on in a few years and men's basketball rights the ship we can get to the top.

The only men's sport that helped us was men's track. Otherwise, the ladies have carried us this year.

So we finish 2nd for the 2nd year in a row. I can't remember how we did in 2013/14. No one was really keeping it updated on the forum.

Not officially 2nd yet. You need to beat UTA once next weekend to lock that up.

I have no idea how far back the SB office has records. USA is the only school that has been around since day one. But over the summer I am hoping to make contact with a few folks and see what can be found. I did find online a few years back. MTSU published the Bubas points in their end of year athletics review and I found a few of these on line. What I have is back to 2008-2009.

TxSt was 3 of 10 in 13-14.

You guys aren't in a bad spot. Only App sponsors every sport. USA is at 17/18, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Texas State and Troy sponsor 16/18.
Arkansas State, Georgia Southern and Georgia State don't sponsor three sports. UTA is at four. Little Rock sponsors only 13 of 18.

The ones the Red Wolves miss out on are men's soccer, of which only three regular conference members compete and awards a maximum of six points, men's tennis, of which only seven compete and softball, of which nine compete. Arkansas State misses out on a maximum of 22 points.

Compare that to UTA which doesn't field men's soccer (3 members/6 points), football (9/11), women's soccer (10) and women's golf (9). UTA leaves a maximum of 36 points on the table. Despite that handicap, the Mavs still finished two points out of first last year.

Then there's Little Rock, likely to never have a chance to win. The don't have anything in men's soccer (3/6), football (9/11), men's tennis (7), women's tennis (10) and softball (9). They leave a max of 43 points on the table.

Coastal will help UTA next year, assuming they beat them of course. Coastal sponsors 17 SBC sports. Oddly, despite having an outdoor men's team and a cross country men's team, they don't seem to have an indoor men's team.

We will likely add softball soon. I want to win them all but they are not all equal in my mind. I would take a first place in football and MBB in exchange for not winning any other sport.

So would we all but some of us aren't there so, for now, I'll take our ladies doing well and keeping our overall program respectable.
