That must be what happened, no other sane person could actually come to the conclusion that the MAC is a more desirable place for a program trying to rise than the AAC

You're confusing demanding everyone should agree with me and not tolerating opinions based on incorrect and/or outdated information...

The AAC minus 1 team is still leagues above the MAC, and even minus their top 2 teams still puts the MAC to shame. Compare basically any important number (revenue, attendance, major bowl appearances, tv ratings, etc.) And watch how silly you'll feel realizing the MAC is far below the AAC in terms of conference quality. Can you imagine Navy, UCONN, Houston, or Memphis coming to Huskie Stadium regularly? That'd do wonders for our attendance.

PLUS NO MORE MACTION BUTCHERING OUR ATTENDANCE

Even with an 0-12 record last year, UCF averaged over 30,000 for 6 home games and had over 23,000 in attendance for their Spring Game (!) two weeks ago.

UCF Had 39k (vs close by FIU) and 36k in their first two games then were down around 25k for their last four games. And, they are in the middle of a market of 2.5 mm people in Orlando alone with 66mm visitors last year.

And, Stay Cool, I don't feel silly at all. I don't think any of those teams you mentioned would do much for attendance in DeKalb.

Getting out of the Tuesday and Wednesday night games might be nice. And I could easily get to USF and UCF games, but the move isn't good imo; especially with the AAC losing two of their best schools.

Anyway, I'm done with this.

+3 the AAC is better in every metric tou can try to argue, except travel costs.

UCF averaged 30,000 in a 45,000 seat stadium. I am sure they don't consider that good especially when they have 60,000 students. If NIU can get a AAC invite you take it. The AAC is probably the ceiling for NIU.

Completely agree, its really just a few vocal 5 or 6 people on here calling for it, and they obviously have not thought through all the ramifications. A lateral move to a conference with a straight down arrow that would incur so much crazy crazy travel costs, just insane to even think this could be considered.

Who are the other 32 who voted in favor for the move in this read MD?

I voted for it also, but my thought was Big 12. Maybe wishful thinking. There is one argument for leaving the MAC and one argument only and that is the ESPN deal and the devastation it has caused. I just feel like if you can get leadership in the MAC front office that cared about the welfare of the conference that things could be corrected. Im still holding out hope for changes at the top because the individual institutions have done just a remarkable job with remarkable leadership at making the MAC successful despite the ineptitude at the top.

If NIU can move to the AAC or Big XII, they should grab it. Travel costs are overstated and increased revenue and guarantees will more than cover them. There is no standing still. Move up or move down.

Big 12 absolutely, AAC, absolutely not, a lateral move at this point is just not worth it.

Why settle for the AAC or Big 12? We should push for the Big 10, which is in our neighborhood, or the SEC. Think big! I'm sure our huge athletic budget, magnificent stadium, and overflowing attendance would attract the attention of any conference.

The Big 12 would be a great fit, NIU would be a cashcow in a lucrative Chicago market and the amount of Big 12 alum in the Chicago area is very very large. It really would be the ideal fit.

Exactly how would the Big 12 make money off the lucrative Chicago market?

If the Big 12 is going to remain a viable conference going forward they are absolutely going to need to have their own network. The advertising revenue would increase exponentially with the addition of the Chicago market.
