Despite having repeatedly said on the record that there would be no "boots on the ground" operations in Syria, a State Department spokesman furiously denied that the Obama Administration ever said that. The disbelief of the reporter says it all.

Question: What?
Kirby: It’s just not true, Matt.
Question: It is.
Question: Mr. Kirby –
Kirby: It’s just not true.
Question: It’s true.
Kirby: No, it’s not. I just flatly, absolutely disagree with you …
Quote:“Kirby: there was never this – there was never this, “No boots on the ground.” I don’t know where this keeps coming from.
Question: But yes there – well, yes, yes, there was.
Kirby: There was no – there was – no there wasn’t. There was –
Question: More than –
Question: What?
Kirby: We’re not going to be involved in a large-scale combat mission on the ground. That is what the President has long said

So, a lying liar tells lies. Remember "bend the cost curve down"? Save the average family 25 hundred bucks?!?
Now we shall pivot a tad and put someone in there that lies to dead peoples coffins, their attending family members and the entire American public BEFORE they even set foot in the office. This is how pathetic our populace has become.

To those apparently without a functioning brain...Obama's comments were made in September of 2013. Before the rise of ISIS/ISIL. The comments were made D I R E C T L Y about proposed actions in Syria to remove chemical weapons from Assad, nothing more. Actions for which he requested congress to approve and they refused to do so. He goes on to mention that he's talking about a targeted airstrike only and not a prolonged military mission as occurred in Afghanistan and Iraq previously. You know...what's known as "boots on the ground".
If you feel that this means that we could never put a troop on the ground for anything in Syria to protect our national interests throughout the rest of his presidency, you're an idiot.
Carry on with the delusions...

We've had boots on the ground in Syria since before the first airstrike.

Tom sticks the landing! Perfect 10! That gives him the gold medal at the 2016 Mental Gymnastics!
Of course, those of us who live in reality see that Obama said this numerous times, not just in 2013. He even said it as recently as DAYS BEFORE HE ORDERED MORE BOOTS ON THE GROUND.
Quote:Some veterans are outraged by the administration’s semantics.
“It is a grossly silly assertion that American men and women who are participating in the killing and dying in Iraq and Syria, whether it be directly or indirectly, do not count as boots on the ground,” said Matthew Hoh, who has served as a Marine and at the Pentagon and State Department. “Boots on the ground,” he said, is “a phrase that serves as a dog whistle to those of us who have actually been to war.”
Tyson Manker, a Marine Corps corporal during the invasion of Iraq, argues that the distinction between “boots on the ground” and special forces is meaningless to soldiers overseas. In a statement emailed to The Intercept, Manker wrote: “To Obama, sure it’s meaningful. For the … Marines on the ground shooting and getting shot at, not so meaningful.”

Give Tom some time to find more water to haul.
