Special Snowflakes: American Flag Unacceptable ‘Political Statement’ At Harvard…
Soon to be replaced with the rainbow flag.
Quote:In another chapter of the ongoing suppression of free speech and expression across university and college campuses via the expansion of leftism, a student of Harvard University joined Fox News Channel’s Megyn Kelly to share several revealing anecdotes. With stories highlighting students seemingly incapable of tolerating opposing views on the morality of abortion or the display of the American flag, Rachel Huebner added to the growing index of incidents illustrating the advancement of left-wing political culture on campuses nationwide.
In an incident in which a student was offended by the American flag, Huebner recalled the story of a friend, who was stopped by his roommate from hanging Old Glory on a wall in their residence apartment.
“My friend, who’s a freshman, on the first day of college took out an American flag from his suitcase, and his roommate stopped him, saying that the presence of the flag on the wall was a political statement that he was unwilling to make,” said Huebner.
In another incident, a female student’s request to not be seated across from anyone opposing abortion was seemingly indulged by many classmates and the attending professor.

UC Berkeley Moonbats Stage Mock Checkpoint During The Annual “Israeli Apartheid Week”…
Nobody was stabbed at the checkpoints by a crazed Palestinian.
Quote:Students’ screams echoed through UC Berkeley’s Sproul Plaza as their classmates — wearing Israeli military uniforms, sunglasses and what looked like assault rifles — stood guard at a mock checkpoint and threw Palestinian actors to the ground.
“Go! Go!” a guard shouted at a Palestinian, barring her from passing through the Sather Gate-turned-checkpoint and urging her to go back to where she came from. She yelled back: “What do you think you’re doing? What’s wrong with you!?”
The elaborate display Tuesday featured dozens of members of Students for Justice in Palestine playing the role of Palestinians passing through the mock Israeli checkpoint over several hours. The drama criticized security policies in Israel and that country’s practice of demanding Palestinians’ identification and searching their belongings as they head to work, school and other activities in Israel.
But for some Palestinan students, like Hannah Al-Bayan, a junior majoring in biology, the play was very real. “When I go visit, this is exactly the kind of thing we go through,” she said.[…]
On college campuses around the world, other pro-Palestinian activists — many of them Jewish — enact similar protests each year as part of “Israeli Apartheid Week.”
The campus checkpoints cause tension among some students — while some sympathize with Palestinians and condemn Israeli actions, others defend the checkpoints as essential to preserving the Jewish state and protecting Israelis from terrorism.
The checkpoint dramas are often accompanied by lectures urging college leaders to boycott Israeli products and divest from holdings in the country. The actions are seen as anti-Semitic by many Jewish students who say they inspire hostility toward those who embrace Israel.
This year’s protest at Berkeley came a week after the UC regents adopted “Policies Against Intolerance” to address Jewish students’ concerns that anti-Semitism is on the rise at UC. Swastikas and other anti-Jewish graffiti have appeared on UC campuses in recent years, as have attempts to stifle Jewish students. Pro-Palestinian students and faculty alike had feared an original version of the policy would limit their free speech.
In part, the regents’ document sought to clarify whether “anti-Zionism” — generally defined as opposition to Israel as a Jewish state — equates to anti-Semitism. The debate among students, faculty and others captured national attention as it led up to the regents’ March 24 approval of a document declaring that “anti-Semitism, anti-Semitic forms of anti-Zionism, and other forms of discrimination have no place at the University of California.”

Not really. As pointed out above the reenactment didn't contain any suicide attacks and more than likely didn't bother to mention the fact that the reason Israel has these checkpoints is because an entire religion has sworn to drive them into the sea.

So, waving around authentic-looking assault rifles on a college campus is a-ok in this case, evidently.

Just once I'd like to see a few Jewish students do a dance on some of these ********. Nothing major; no broken bones. But a few black eyes and bruises might smarten up a few of those snowflakes

it's the christian right that believes Israel is perfect...you guys should move there.

I always feel compelled to at least mention one thing about Harvard. Whenever anyone mentions that I went to Harvard, I always qualify it very quickly by saying "Harvard Business School" as I don't want to be grouped with the liberal lemmings.
There is a saying that the Charles River, which separates HBS from the rest of the campus (HBS is in Boston; the Alston neighborhood too be specific), is both a geographical and ideological boundary.
To this day, the HBS faculty is overwhelmingly conservative.

As a veteran I can promise you I'm happy these kids are doing what they're doing. I'm happy when right wingers go around on campus talking up their concerns as well. That's what college is for. It's what free speech is all about.
I don't get why the right is so disdainful of anything that it doesn't agree with. It's either fear or hate or something. Twisted.

I see this a lot like I do some ******* who puts up a flagpole in their front yard against HOA rules etc and then falls on the whole "you just hate America" argument.
I'm as patriotic as the next son-of-a-***** but that doesn't mean I need an American flag draped on everything every second of my life.
Also, these flagpole jackasses almost never take their damn flags down at night but tell all of us how unpatriotic we are.

I think its more the fact that people acquiesce to their dumb complaints that bothers many conservatives. So the American flag offends you, ok, duly noted, but tough ****. That should be the response from the administrators in many of these instances. Sticks and stones and all that

Why is it that the liberal left is doing all they can to stop free speech on campuses and elsewhere?

Yep, that's the first thing that popped into my mind when reading the response. "Free speech zones". lol

Touche, though I'd argue it isn't all of us. Some of that stuff my fellow lefties are pulling off makes me cringe. You don't change minds by shutting up other people. You change minds by giving them something better to believe in.
