The workers in the lobby area couldn't even make eye contact with us while we were waiting to go in. This also made us uneasy about what was to come. The entire section (106) on the home side was sold out. Alumni, scholarship fund contributors, season ticket holders for years apparently held no weight against basketball season tickets holders/donors jumping ship and crashing our party. The thought of simply walking out came to mind and the 15 minute time allotted to make a decision when there are NO GOOD SEATS left on the home side is sickening. We paid more money than ever before on subpar seating. So we left; displaced from sitting on the second row behind the team to now sitting behind the visitors on the fourth row. TRUE BLUE, TIGER BLUE; BLUE ABOUT MY SEASON TICKETS!

My seats were in the seat back and we basically ended up with the same seats - probably because we are bball ticket holders too and had an early appointment.

That said, I have a question: could someone who did not have seats in the seat back section get an appointment as a TSF donor and grab seats in the affected section?

On a similar note, I wonder if folks who did sit on the visitor side in the affected section moved their seats to the home side.

AFAIK, no. this seating was just for those currently in the chairbacks. People wanting to move into this area will happen later.

As someone who picked today I can tell you your wrong.

wow, so they lied to everyone?

Technically, they said that EVERYONE in an affected section would be able to reseat... not just the ones that had seats on the specific rows getting chairbacks.

I am pretty sure that I got an email saying that my section had been affected and that I could go through the process. I then received an email a few days later saying that my specific seats were not affected and that I could not renew until my normal time in May or so...

Hmmm... maybe they pick people with a dartboard? My seats were smack in the new chairback section, and they removed one of our seats (because we were the highest numbered seats on the aisle.) So, I definitely should have been on the list (and I was.)

SMH at people carping and complaining about cost if they have the means and time to afford chairback season tickets and attend games. The average Tiger "fan" is among the worse in the nation - unappreciative when winning and bailing when losing.

Nice of you to pop your head out of your hole to take a swipe at an entire fanbase.

bye bye now.

RE: Footballs seat selection
I've been a TSF donor from the beginning (1991?). Over the years I've looked into getting in the chairbacks for football, but they were always sold out. An argument could be made that there should have been a football reseating decades ago. With this new construction, my seats were in an affected area, so I got an appointment, and ultimately better seats. Should I apologize?

People who have kept their chairback seats without donating to the program should count themselves fortunate. I suggest that they consider the fabric chairbacks that are offered with the season tickets ($5 per game). It is what I have always done; they are better than the bench.

This isn't about money for us. We've been giving money for years. This is about being lied too and not being allowed to have 1st choice to purchase the seats we've had for years. The letter also said that if your seats were gone they would find seats for you in your area. LIES....how can you offer what's not available? If I decline my season tickets then it's fair game...but U of M screwed a lot of faithful season ticket holders. When Memphis wasn't winning or getting invited to "Bowl Games" we were decked out in Tiger Blue.

Good grief. This is the cost of having a big-time football program. Move to the visitor side...I did last year and I love it. Geez....I'm so sick of the constant whining by our fans.

Got my same seats only 1 row back. But I have been on the visitor side for years already.

So not too bad.

There is no "visitor side" in the Liberty Bowl. We have a visitor's section (in the Northeast corner). It is our home stadium...both sides are ours. semantics? Ok, but when we travel to places like the SEC stadiums, UCLA even Kansas State their fans claim and own the whole stadium. We will get there.

I might be old fashioned, but the "home" team is on one side of the field, and the "visiting" team is on the other side of the field. I have been sitting behind the "visiting" team for years. Most of the time, I can stretch out my legs and be comfortable. I like being on the "visiting" side of the stadium.

RE: Footballs seat selection
I had season tickets on the home side from the early 70's thru 1994, then switched to the visitor side for a lower vantage point. Another reason I like being on the "visiting" side of the stadium is that it helps give a better impression for TV audiences since that is the side which the cameras are aimed at.

By the way, it is untrue that you cannot pay for your seats when you select them. You have a choice between waiting for them to mail you a bill or paying on the spot.

One thing that our fans who, for whatever reasons, are pissed and not renewing tickets for football and basketball had better keep in mind - if we join the Big 12, good seats will suddenly become hard to come by for those who gave them up.

I always wondered where the crotchety old codger section was. Good to know.

When the guy called me to allow me to select my seats over the phone, I asked if I could pay for them right then. He said I would have to call the Ticket Office separately, as he could only charge me for the Navy tickets I donated.

But people that show up in person could obviously just pay there.
