RE: Xavier player
I must say given all the widespread issues in college athletics (UNC academic fraud, Louisville buying hookers, The U buying weed, booze and strippers for recruits, etc.) that I really don't get bothered anymore by players getting into a fight at a bar, underage drinking and showing off your junk, etc. That's just going to happen with 18-22 year olds with inflated egos on occasion.

Where the rubber meets the road is how a university responds to inappropriate behavior by their student athletes. Do they punish the athlete by making them sit out games or do they just say it will be "handled internally" (meaning no consequences).

Oh since we are on a bad behavior topic, hot mess down in Knoxville. Lawsuit against UT and upcoming rape trials.

This is the very reason Mick doesn't recruit white shooters, you never know when us white folk might take a hankering to drop our shorts. Just can't take a chance, reason why Jimmy Chitwood never went to college.

I think a lot of you look at this stuff all wrong. XU stories like this are barely noticed becasue not many people care about X. A whole lot more care about UC, so they get press. It's actually a good thing, but some of you are so dead set on bashing the enquirer for stupid ass reasons that you can't see that.

Frontline treatment typically begins with some form of psychotherapy (performed in an individualized or group setting). In some cases, doctors combine therapy with medications from a group of antidepressant/anti-anxiety drugs called SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors). If frontline treatments for the disorder don’t produce the desired effect (i.e., a reduction in exhibitionistic behaviors, fantasies and urges), a male patient may also receive any one of a number of medications called antiandrogens. These medications achieve their effects by either blocking the actions of the male sex hormone testosterone or lowering the body’s normal level of testosterone production.

You know a LOT about this...

Maybe I remember wrong, but I thought he blew below the legal limit and was old enough to drink. The cops charged him with leaving the scene when he went to seek help IIRC.

agree. but, as a product of a catholic education, I think the treatment just shows the hypocrisy involved with the j/o place on victory parkway

And the Catholic community already has its issues with errant priests, soooo this black eye (or would that be 'black bottom'...) on the JO's oh so pure image can't be too welcome I would think.

Macura went to a public HS, probably not Catholic. BTW Pedo preachers are just as common at Protestant / Baptist churches. Some Catholic schools do have a cult like feel to them.

I went to catholic school all throughout my education. I have no clue why the OP is even bringing up the whole catholic / non-Catholic thing in this instance. Like you said that kind of stuff happens just as much in other churches.

Whoa there muchachos!

I certainly don't want to make this into a catholic non-catholic thing. But to say there are as many pedo's in protestant as catholic churches is deep-end bull goose loony.

See one the one hand you have a deal where a guy isn't permitted to marry AND takes a vow of celibacy. Add in the fact that they go to school with all men and are surrounded with boy helpers and later, often young male students.

On the other you have people who are perfectly free to marry, have as much sex as they care to have and have a family with as kids as they want.

Now think about the people who would even consider signing up for option 1. They ARE going to have sex and their options (without being discovered) are bascially other men and boys.

Now that isn't to say sexual transgressions aren't also very common in protestant churches. Because they are. The difference is they are almost always of the hetero adult variety. Servicing the flock if you will.

And that is all - Please continue

Grabbed national headlines on the ESPN Men's Bball splash page today--not the kind of publicity X wanted for Final Four week, especially after imploding the first weekend of the tournament.

There Is More Sexual Abuse In The Protestant Churches Than Catholic

Report: Protestant Church Insurers Handle 260 Sex Abuse Cases a Year

Evangelicals ‘worse’ than Catholics on sexual abuse
http://www.christiancentury.org/article/...xual-abuse

Wisconsin-based Church Mutual Insurance Co. has 100,000 client churches and has seen a steady filing of about five sexual molestation cases a week for more than a decade, even though its client base has grown.

“It would be incorrect to call it a Catholic problem,” said Church Mutual’s risk control manager, Rick Schaber. “We do not see one denomination above another. It’s equal. It’s also equal among large metropolitan churches and small rural churches.”

Iowa-based Guide One Center for Risk Management, which insures more than 40,000 congregations, also said Catholic churches are not considered a greater risk or charged higher premiums.

Given that he is only charged with Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing Official Business I would be you are right. If he actually flashed his junk he is really lucky that those are the only charges he got.
