KU went from 7 under to 5 over after that run but Nova was able to come back. That speaks a lot for that team.

wow you figure....
32-25 1st half
24-14 run last 1050 of game

so for 30 minutes of the game it was Nova 56-39.....

I hate Big East basketball. The refs treated it like a BE game. Nova players were always throwing elbows. Lots of body, no fouls.

It was called consistent both ways, but its ugly basketball. They weren't calling hands on the ball handler which they are supposed to do. Nova was using hands a lot and pushing. College basketball had gotten really ugly and they were supposed to be getting rid of this stuff.

Great job by Nova! Really great game that went back and forth from start to finish. Big East is getting tons of positive press and mentions tonight. Jay Wright has always been classy regarding the Nova program and the Big East conference.

Really looking forward to the matchup with Oklahoma. Hopefully the second time is the charm.

totally different team that Oklahoma is going to see in Houston. one that doesn't live anywhere near as much by the 3 as they did back then.....

Agreed. Nova will be a tough out for Oklahoma second time around. Should be exciting matchup.

Nova was 4 for 32 in 3-pt attempts in their game vs. OU in Hawai'i. They were 4 for 18 vs. KU tonight. The key in the Final Four for Nova will be playing a physical, low-scoring game as they did vs. KU. If Hield goes on a tear vs. Nova like he did tonight vs. Oregon, then Nova will have to take more shots than they want to take... like the last time they played OU.

tonight vs Kansas 18 3's out of 52 shots
earlier vs Oklahoma 32 3's out of 63 shots

so they aren't jacking up 3's anywhere close to what they used to do.

frankly in this situation I much prefer to be in the Nova camp over the Oklahoma camp. Rematches like this are tough.....

This post doesn't resonate with me. Kansas was bigger and stronger than Villanova, so how were the Wildcats pushing them around?

It was a GREAT basketball game and Nova deserves TONS of credit for finding a way to win. Kansas was able to take away their Golden State Warriors splash-game from the 3-point line and yet Villanova was able to beat the #1 team in the tournament with defense anyway.

Fantastic ballgame, and awesome for the Big East to be back in the Final 4! 02-13-banana

But also vice-versa. Oklahoma spent a few weeks at #1 this year. They are back to playing that way again. Nobody has really been able to challenge them so far, they dominated #1 Oregon start to finish. They are playing really good basketball. They handle the ball well, shoot it from 3, rebound, get up the court. Excellent Oklahoma team with the best player in the tournament.

Yes, typically the losing team loses more from the first game than the winner. But .... it can cut both ways. When the first game is a blowout, the losing team might just absorb the message that the other team is just too good, which is disheartening.

And the first game was a blowout. 07-coffee3

They were pushing with their hands which is supposed to be called a foul now. Pushing with the body is fine.

There were also a lot of elbows. The big guy for Nova got an easy layup early on right in front of the ref. He threw a big elbow to the solar plexus of the KU guy and knocked him back a couple feet to clear space. The ball handlers led with their elbows a few times to clear space. Both sides were fouling the shooter in the lane without getting fouls called. That's why it was such a low scoring game (plus the fact that neither side could hit a 3 even when open-lots of bricks thrown up last night).

Basketball is a physical sport, it's not ballerina dancing. Where I grew up playing, if you let smaller guys manhandle you, you deserved to get beat. 07-coffee3

Whow what a comeback. Would love to see Notre Dame beat UNC so we'd have 3 teams from the Big East make the Final Four this year. Oh wait. I mean... nvm.
