If ECU finishes 10th, Compher and others should be fired immediately.

I thought that was pretty funny myself but didn't want to comment on it when the guy who wrote it tried to call me out. He states we have no playmakers this year except Benkert, which obviously shows they didn't look too hard into teams. I could make a case for several but it doesn't take an expert to realize we return who will probably be the best WR in the league in Jones (ranked 3rd in AAC last year) as well as having the former #3 all-purpose back in the country out of high school and former Tennessee RB Derrell Scott likely starting.

And don't forget it either, you can't even compete in the AAC.

Whatever power rankings you have ascribed to UC, you have to adjust the numbers down several points to take into account the "Tuberville Factor".

If Lucas is able to play to his potential in our offensive system he could very well blow everyone else (WR's) in this conference away. He could even follow Keyarris Garret as the national leader in receiving yards. But there's a lot that could prevent that too. We'll see how things go.

Lucas has some of the best hands I've ever seen. If Evans continues his improved accuracy then a lot if those twisting, behind the back catches will be caught in stride and end up as long TDs instead of 10-15 yard gains.

Definitely. Houston opens with Oklahoma (a CFP contender) and plays Louisville (which will be much improved from 2015) again.

Not sure what they lost on defense but they lose four year starter all-world Reynolds, and I think four of their top 5 rushers are gone as well (that is including Reynolds).

Tough to overcome no matter who you are and what your scheme is.

And their entire offensive line.

Of course we won't replace Keenan Reynolds one for one. How many teams in this conference can replace a top 5 finisher in the Heisman voting? But Tago will do JUST FINE. QB is very possibly the least of the coaches' worries. Other rushing weapons near the bottom of the worries list as well: we will miss the Swain Train, but incoming #1 is a carbon copy (who threw the pass to Keenan in our bowl win) and also on the depth chart is Swain's little brother; slot backs we just reload, including a guy already selected team captain and the fastest guy on the team.
O-line - that "five starters" is overstated. Those five seniors only started as a unit a couple games. Plenty of experience and starts there.
D line losses probably the most serious thing.

Let me turn it around to a question for you...you see us going from 10-2 regular season to 6-6? Exactly which four AAC wins from last year do you see as losses for Navy this year?

I'm not going to predict wins and losses for you. I have told myself before after we lost a muti year starting QB's, "oh we'll be fine, with the next guy in line we won't miss a beat." Or multiple starting linemen, "we rotated so much though, a lot of experience even though they didn't start". As much as you try to pump it up it will matter, it always does.

Just glancing over the schedule I could see losses to UConn, Houston, Memphis, USF, Notre Dame, and possibly Tulsa.

You lost four-year starting QB and Heisman trophy hopeful, 5 OL that were starters at some point or another last year, and 4 out of your 5 top rushers graduated and you think you aren't going to miss beat? This isn't a dig on Navy, you may very well run all over us again, but it's just being realistic.

Yes, that is exactly what I think.
We always graduate a lot of senior starters. Nature of the system. Almost no one starts as a freshman because of plebe year (Keenan being the first four-year QB starter since the late Alton Grizzard is another indicator of how great he was; he is the exception that proves the rule); freshmen and sophmores put in time on the JV; the varsity two-deep is overwhelmingly juniors and seniors every year; the offense especially is about reps, reps, reps.
Look again at those top 5 rushers...and then look back a year. Along with Keenan, only Swain was also a top 5 rusher in 2014 -- cuz we lost three of our '14 top 5 rushers to graduation. And Swain didn't start as a junior in '14, and a storyline was out there wondering if he could maintain as the lead dog after Copeland graduated. The '15 #2 FB is also on that '15 top 5 list...and wasn't even in the 2014 top 10. Of the three slotbacks in the top six rushers of '15 (the leader returns as a senior, we lose the #5-6 rushers to graduation) none were in the top 5 rushers of 2014, as the top two slotback rushers graduated. Goes back year after year - each year loses three or four of the top 5 rushers, and the guys at six through ten are in the top 5 the next year.
I haven't gotten into depth charts from beginning and end of 2014, but those 5 seniors on the O-line? If memory serves only 2 were returning starters from '14-'15.
Not miss a beat? Correct, that's what we do. Only one losing season in the last 14. FBS-leading consistency/tenure on our coaching staff.

I don't think we will repeat 11-2 (7-1). Most wins ever is most wins ever. At the same time I don't see any of our 7 AAC wins I would predict as flipping to losses. "Realistic" prediction is 9-3(6-2) or 8-4(5-3). Frankly, I will be VERY disappointed in 4-4 in AAC...but "right at bowl eligible" 6-6(3-5) would be way more than just missing a beat. We COULD go 1-11, of course, too, but I don't think so.

Without shame, too. I've long been a fan of the so-called "smaller" schools, and the reason why I created AAC Fever (previously AAC Football Fever) is to provide people like me (who CARE about these programs) a place to read up. Obviously there is still much work to do... but the AAC deserves coverage, and I aim to help in some capacity.

Good job! I personally appreciate your efforts.
