If you want the straight scoop on Stansbury. Go to the MSU board in the link, register there and then ask them their opinion on Stansbury.

Seems like the Mississippi State Fans think Stansbury is a good fit for Western. Definitely think the Toppers could do far worse. If he is announced, Congrats!

What's the deal with all these attacks?

If one of you guys get a new coach(any sport) we wish you the best-then sit back-wait and see.

I don't get it.Does WKU not deserve the same courtesy till some "sin" has been committed ??

He's definitely a big name that could bring some success, I'd just be wary given his history.

I'll give you some credit. I think it is a good hire. State fans became completely delusional and thought that they would be a basketball powerhouse without Stansbury. His predecessor may have gotten them to the Final Four in 1996 but there has been no evidence that MSU can be a consistently good team in basketball outside of Stansbury's tenure.

The nail in the coffin was the Renardo Sidney fiasco referenced above. Basically, Stansbury was desperate with an uneasy fanbase and let it ride on a talented kid with discipline issues (including eating). It blew up in his face in the video posted above in which he attacked a teammate in the stands (food related??). He responded by, if I'm not mistaken, booting the kid who Sidney attacked after allowing Sidney to serve something like a 10 game suspension (that he probably spent eating). Sidney was underwhelming...and fat. Renardo Sidney was fat is what I'm saying here. State fans were pissed. Stansbury was fired. That season really was an absolute trainwreck that you had a feeling was coming.

I would definitely say that his success rides on his recruiting...which was good because he was a damn good recruiter. No one will accuse him of being a superb tactical coach; though I never thought he was horrible. It could be a very good hire....but I'm curious what he can bring in at a non-SEC school.

I am sure our AD has looked into any questions of his past and he has been thoroughly researched.I am confident he looked into any past accusations and was satisfied.

Of course anything could happen in the future. We have to make the best hire we can afford and show our administration at least a basic amount of trust.

The Sidney fiasco was years ago.Hopefully he learned a lesson. Also may have picked up a few X's and O's from Billy Kennedy.

He is 56 now and has experienced these failures.I doubt he will attempt to repeat mistakes.

No--he won't be the next Ed Diddle or John Wooden. We just want an above average coach to take us further than Harper or McDonald.
