I really want SMU to add a men and women's program we have a brand-new lacrosse field that should be used for more than just a club sport

There has to be a reason though. Probably title 9.

If it's title 9 related they could've added beach volleyball. I think they are seeing if there an itch for the sport here and if there is they will add Men's LAX. I wish men's soccer would come back but not sure where we are in title 9 to make it so

Never cared about lacrosse until my nephew started playing. Soccer on steroids - lots and lots of scoring.

NOpe. We've been compliant with T9. We haven't added anything on the men's side and NCAA rule hasn't changed. Bottom line is this is more of Compher bending or getting bent over by somebody else. He's a dipshit.

According to the question portion at the bottom of the article, it appears that ECU will try to join UConn, Cincy, and Temple in the Big East for women's lacrosse. Good move. I am hoping that the Big East admits ECU since it only makes sense. ECU is almost smack dab in the middle of these schools:

Great! If nothing else it associates our admin with the admins of some quality OOC hoops games. Any one of those school would be an awesome OOC add for ECU.

Sometimes I fear that our Athletic department is clueless, then they do something like this and confirm it.

So we have enough money to add a non-revenue sport but not enough to buy out Lebo? While it's great to see the athletic program expand, I just feel there are more pressing issues that need to be addressed first.

I'm glad you bought this up because I wanted to but didn't want to come across as pouring gas on the Lebo fire. 04-cheers

I might be the first to mention it here, but has already been discussed on the ECU boards.

I have to add, I applaud the ECU fans on here who genuinely want to see ECU men’s basketball fixed and are vocal about it.

I’ve said it before, the AAC doesn’t need ECU competing for a national championship, although that would be nice, just get inside the 150-125 RPI range and be in the mix for the NIT. It will do wonders for the conference and everyone’s strength of schedule.

What's the buyout?

I was just at the Maryland/Drexel game. It's a good time. Temple just needs to add men's with our new field/stadium going up.

$2.5 million I believe

And that's not unreasonable, however there is a sect of ECU supporters that have given up and accepted the fact that we may never be competitive in men's hoops, and they're ok with that, because we have baseball and football.
