RE: Byu
They are #8 in the NCAA in scoring offense, but they don't have much for bigs or inside game. They can bomb jumpshots though, and their PG, Collingsworth is the NCAA recordholder for triple doubles. Watching him and Norton might be fun.
If they get hot from outside it will be a tough game, and they're on their home floor.

Baxter will draw the assignment on Collinsworth. If not Hak it will be Haha. Maybe a lot of both to give Collinsworth a lot to think about.

Won't be HaHa. I expect it to be RB, Hak, and Dirk. But, their other guard avgs 17PPG and has hit 98 3ptrs this year. Can't forget about him...

Geography is no longer taken into consideration, they have these things called planes.
Not to get ahead of ourselves, but if we win we will have to come all the way back to the eastern time zone. Either to Virginia or Jersey. Lots of time spent traveling and getting adjusted.

From looking on twitter, Yes the fans will be there. Seems to be a lot going on this week there. School and fans hyping it up.
$2 student tickets will help.

Nick Emery is really more of a PG, no matter what they call Collinsworth. I figure we cover him with a 3 and Norton gets Emery, who is 6'2".

Really? I haven't heard of a plane. I figured it'd be a week long wagon train trip out to Provo.
I was speaking more from a fan's perspective on being able to support their teams. Logistically and financially, UAB fans got one of the worst draws in the opening round. Debatable of course.

Okay. I was just using KenPom info, and his system estimates players' positions and he admits his algorithm is not perfect. Interestingly, his algorithm has Collinsworth playing PG 85% of the time over the past five games, and Emery playing SG 73% of the time. I think the algorithm is picking up on the fact that Collinsworth gets a LOT of assists, doesn't shoot a whole lot of 3's, and makes several turnovers a game. His stats suggest a PG, but reality can be different.
In their 18 conference games, KenPom gave Collinsworth the game MVP 9 times. He is their star player.

The only way UAB is going to win, against more formidable teams than teams that UAB plays against in CUSA competition, is for UABs entire team to control the boards on both ends of the court from start to finish and not come out flat for ten minutes in a foot race. Otherwise, they are going to get their fannies kicked. They forgot to do that during the previous game.

RE: Byu
I expect us to come out and play as hard as we can for 40 minutes and not make mental mistakes.
What I believe will happen has a lot to do with the youth of our team and lingering emotions of getting beaten so badly by WKU & not going to the Dance.
I hope this team proves me wrong.

RE: Byu
Tough match-up for UAB.
BYU likes to bomb threes, and we know our perimeter defense can be suspect at times, especially on rotations. Also, BYU also has the traditional bigs that tend to give us trouble.
We'll have to play a near perfect game, probably shoot better than 40% on threes at volume, and hope BYU has an off-night shooting.

If they were that good, they'd be in the real tournament. Like us, they're in the NIT for a reason.
We play well, we can win this game.
