If the CUSA was selling out their tournament every year, then yeah let the #1 seed play at noon. But they're not. The primary purpose of a conference tournament is to make money for the conference. Not letting the team who brings the most fans play the prime slot does not accomplish that

I'll actually be rooting for western to win against uab. It seems that if we (UTEP) has any kind of chance it'll be with everyone else other than uab. I'm not keen on playing odu either but I'm sure that they have their own demons to conquer.

At the end of the day, you are hosting it, but it is a "natural" tournament. The C-USA has rented out your facilities and is running the show. That's how it should be. The tournament should be bracketed to give the #1 seed the best chance to win -- not the home team.

Actually we are asking it to go back to the way it has always been done since long before your program was asked to join this league. This is not to benefit UAB as much as it is to benefit C-USA. If Charlotte was the host and stuck with a couple of noon games during the week that would hurt their attendance as well as any other program in this league.

Nice stretch of the facts though. You get a F for effort

As a WKU fan, I'm glad we get to play UAB at noon, if we beat North Texas.

However, I can see the gripe that UAB has about not getting to play in the prime slot, where the fans can actually attend.

EXACTLY!!!!!! It's not about UAB or anyone else gaining an advantage. Its about putting butts in the seats no matter what city it is. It's going to suck to see about 4,000 in the stands instead of 8 or 9. I just hope the next school that hosts does not have that issue.

I like how UAB fans are just noticing this change and acting like it was only done to screw UAB last week.

Sorry, this was determined a long time ago. I don't recall a single post of outrage coming from Birmingham then.

And it was questioned a long time ago so your recall memory is either faulty, selective, or both. If CUSA doesn't want to make money on its tourney then fine by me. It's not going to prevent UAB from beating Marshall..............

I think you'll enjoy Doc Sadler's thoughts on the first UAB-Marshall game.

They can be found here: http://www.wvgazettemail.com/sports/2016...pectations

My point is, the reaction in this thread from UAB fans makes it appear like it's breaking news. It's not.

You're hosting the tournament. Enjoy it or demand your city not bid on it.

1. Good for Doc. let him whine.
2. No one said on insinuated it's breaking news. It has been discussed previously.
3. Why don't you guys bid it? If we cant make money on this thing we may not bid it again and I'm good with that. As far as hosting the tournament you want it you bid for it. That goes for all of you. I am attending. Are you? (I'm driving 5 hours to attend so I am not in Birmingham.)

I also have no issues with the comments by the WKU player all though if I were a coach I would not want my guys to give bulletin board material but I'm not their coach.

It was never announced until well after the first blank bracket had been released and after Birmingham had already secured the bid. Not giving the host or the 1 seed preferred time slots will limit the cities willing to bid and the money they are willing to give.

My take is host teams should be allowed to play prime time games if we want the tournaments to be successful from a revenue standpoint. After that, do what you can to help the higher seeds. As was mentioned before there was no reason La Tech last year couldn't have been given an earlier time their first game AND UAB still play at six. This ain't rocket science.

UAB fans and other posters realize the stupidity of what CUSA did and it was criticized back when it was finalized. But you enjoy this azz whuppin UAB will hand you' in the morning, afternoon, or evening.

A combined 7 points in two games. I hope we get there. Lots of basketball to be played.

As much as I'd like to have either the MBB or WBB Tourney in Nashville; the SEC has booked Bridgestone Arena for eternity and they play the same week we do. We'd have to play the games at Municipal where the OVC plays. Don't think that is going to occur.

If CUSA continues on its current path, our tournament will move back a week with all the other little conferences. Then Nashville will be available.

What's good for the tournament is good for the conference. Just because UAB is hosting doesn't mean that we're asking for favoritism. We just want our students, alumni, and friends to attend the games. Noon on Thursday makes it impossible. There's no reason to troll.
