I would replace Cokley with Robert Brown on the first team. I would put Cokley on the second team in place of Lee. Brown is UAB's leading scorer in conference games and has been solid in nearly every area.

Yeah a lot of the UAB guys are basically interchangeable because they've all been so solid. I went with Cokley just because his efficiency numbers are pretty crazy, and I went with Lee because it's hard to overlook his defensive impact (5+ blocks/40).

Not saying you didn't make good choices. They are interchangeable, which is one reason they are conference champs. Cokley and Lee are deserving. It's hard to realize how big of an impact Robert Brown makes for UAB unless you see them nearly every game.

Regarding Jones. It's all in the spin. He either failed to adapt to adversity or did a good job limping thru a season damaged by injuries, suspensions and transfers.
He is supposedly loaded with talent next year. If the team underperforms, his seat will certainly start to heat up.
Part of what makes Jones vulnerable to criticism from some fans is his slow paced, defense first approach. Boring to watch and not at all attractive to some kids who like to play up tempo.

OOOps, looks likes I posted this on the wrong thread.

I agree Brown on first team, he's definitely an impact player. Eric McCree will probably be on the second team

Any defensive team that doesn't include William Lee is crazy. He is the #1 shotblocker in CUSA (#6 in the nation; was #1 for about two weeks) who opposing coaches gameplan around. He plays 3 positions. And he only plays about 20 minutes a gain and impacts the game whenever he's on the floor. He had 8 blocks in the 1st half a few games ago...

Many wont agree because of the struggles we have had this season, But WKU's Chris McNeal should be in the conversation for freshman of the year. He is one of 13 CUSA freshman all-time to log 100 points, 100 assists, and 100 rebounds in his first season. He is top 150 in assist/turnover ratio in the country (7th amongst freshman) and ranks 8th in the conference in assists per game. I really hope we can hang onto the kid because hes going to be a stud!

In the conversation around the all freshman team but Evans should be a lock for freshman of the year.

I have no problem with that list. In fact, I think this could very well be the way things end up.

We have a player in the top 5 in conference for Assists, Blocks, Field Goal %, and Steals. We have the player with the best PER in the conference in Chris Cokley. But who knows, maybe since we split minutes so much no one will make one of the all conference teams.

I can see no one on UAB's team making first team, because voters usually look at the stat line, and no one has the numbers. However, UAB will probably have at least three on the second team.

I also think we get 6th man award in either Cokley or Williams.

What about Coach of the Year.

I say either Haase or Dantonio, but I think Marshall's late season crash may give it to UAB.

Hasse is a great coach but I think you've got to give it to D'Antoni this year.

He's lost three straight now. Doesn't that count for anything.

Marshall has a great turnaround but COY has to be UAB coach in my book.

I think in ANY sport that the coach who wins the conference title should be COTY, period. Haase should get it w/out question.

I would have said D'Antoni, but Marshall's 3 straight losses may tilt it to Haase.

I also think Dirk Williams strengthened his case of 6th man of the year last night with his 17 points off the bench.

So is there a consensus for POY or does Trey Freeman warrant consideration?

POY is Alex Hamilton. He carried LA Tech in a heavy rebuilding year. Not only did Tech lose 4 starters (Smith, Appleby, Kyser, and Stapleton) from last year's great team, the Dawgs also lost two more starters from this years team back in Dec/Feb. Meanwhile, Hamilton simply upped his game and carried Tech to a 23-7 record and an apparent 2nd place finish in CUSA. Nobody at LA Tech really expected this.

The difference is that UAB is right where everyone thought they would be. Marshall is about 5 or 6 spots above that. The three straight losses do hurt, but I still think to make the turn around Marshall did not just from last year but from the first portion of the season where the team started 0-6. That's an incredible coaching job to make a turn around like that. So to me I'd still give it to Dantoni if I had a vote.

Haase is 22-2 in his last 24 games and is winning the conference by 3 games. How would he not be COTY?

Not much use of having a Coach of the Year then. Odds are the COTY is not the coach of the championship team, however odds are he is far more likely to win the award than anyone else.
