FL Board of Governors Approve New UCF Downtown Campus
City of Orlando donated $75 Million of available land in the new Creative Village (site of the old Amway/Orlando Arena), while UCF secured $20 Million in donations, plus $20 Million from UCF directly and now $20 Million approved by the state to get this project rolling.
When completed, it will be home to approx 5,400 UCF students and 2,300 Valencia students as majors targeted specifically for business/research/internships will be located there, some which will be: Health Informatics, Health Services, Digital Media and Game Design, Legal Studies, Communications and others.
Arizona State's fairly new "Downtown Phoenix" Campus was the basis for this new model for UCF.
This new campus will only add to the booming young downtown population of Orlando...let alone the new apartments/dorms that will be a part of this project as well.

That's actually now Disney Springs...as Disney is pouring a ton of $$ on their latest renovation that continues to boom...regardless of the name: Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village, Walt Disney World Shopping Village, Disney Village Marketplace (including Pleasure Island), Downtown Disney and now Disney Springs.
A new UCF connection to Disney Springs is that Marcus Jordan is launching his first "Trophy Room" store at Disney Springs that will officially open up in a month or two.

Good one!
Or it could be "We are the REAL Univ of Central Florida".
While there are regional smaller UCF campuses elsewhere...this new "Downtown" Campus will be #2 in size...to go along with UCF's Rosen School of Hospitality (located in tourist Corridor by Convention Center) and UCF's new Medical Campus in the Medical City at Lake Nona (close to the Airport).

This is great. Not a ton of reasons to not like UCF but one would be wanting to have a cosmopolitan urban experience, not having to own and maintain a vehicle, etc. That is going to finally be a choice and will keep/attract more talent here

Univ of Memphis took over a private college, Lambuth University in Jackson Tn, about 90 miles west.
