If my OPs and other suggestions brought up happened
If ALL of the following happened:

To PAC-12: UNLV
To ACC-West Virginia (consensus best fit in thread)
To B1G: Iowa St.

And ANY of the following:

To MWC: NMSU, Idaho
To PAC-12: Hawaii, Nevada, SDSU/SJSU/Fresno (any 1)
To ACC: UConn

WITHOUT creating "islands" how do other conferences respond?

The Big West grows to 12 by adding UC San Diego, Cal State Bakersfield (ugh), Seattle and Grand Canyon. Everyone can figure out the rest from there 07-coffee3

ISU has no shot at the B1G.

Please don't fight the hypothetical.

Kansas to BigTen (16)

BYU, CSU, Houston, USF, UCF to Big12 (14)

UTEP, UTSA, Tex St, to MWC(12)

OLD Dominion, Charlotte, Buffalo, GA St to AAC.

Sunbelt and CUSA merge except NMSU, Idaho, Ar-LR, UTA

Goofus: other than the Floridas to the Big XII (violates "no island" rule). I like how you think!

Sure they do (no matter what H1 says).

There is a hypothetical out there where the Big 12 implodes and B1G goes to 20.

Goofus: I didn't give UNM as a Pac-12 option. :(. Of: Hawaii, Nevada or one of those CA SU schools, who would they pick?

Yes, I figure if you take them both, it would not been too lonely of an island.

Cincy got left out mainly because of your no island rule.

I guess the Big 12 could take Tulane and Memphis instead of the Floridas.

It was tempting to add Hawaii to PAC, but Hawaii is literally on an Island.

Is UNLV/UN-Reno a rivalry?
Are those CA schools big rivals?

RE: If my OPs and other suggestions brought up happened
Looked at the alignments, here's the movements I propose:

From AAC to Big XII (any 3)
Houston
SMU
Tulsa
Tulane

To ACC
UCONN (From AAC)
WVU (from Big XII)

To B1G
Iowa St. (From Big XII)

To Pac-12 (all from MWC)
UNLV
Hawaii

Any 2 of:
Nevada
SDSU
SJSU
FRESNO ST.

From MWC to BIG XII
BYU
CSU
AFA
UNM/Wyoming

I would be very happy to be in the big ten. I have many cousins that went to big ten schools so family reunions would be a lot of trash talking.

Problem with my most recent post: AAC and MWC implode, and reconstituting them would violate "no island" rule.

The networks are not going to support it. The B1G is in TV talk negotiations, as everyone knows, and they will not get a dollar more for having Iowa State come into the conference. They will get more money from a TV deal with expansion into a market that the TV networks will find appealing.

I know people love to say Iowa State to the B1G, but when people do that, they never face the reality that they don't bring anything new and the TV networks will not support it, let alone them not getting voted in by the schools themselves.

Just for the record, H1 and I don't always agree what is the better move.

Why isn't University of Iowa fighting for Iowa State's inclusion into the B1G Like University of Illinois is fighting for their fellow schools in the state?

What would the dominoes be if the Big XII completely poached the AAC and MWC teams I listed?

Yeah UCONN to the ACC seems inevitable, the Big will never take Iowa St because of something to do with a Hawkeye...I know it's a hypothetical but goofus is right. New Mexico has to be one of the options for the PAC because their only one of 3 that qualify for the PAC... Colorado St and Hawaii being the other 2 high research schools in the Mountain West. The 3 Cali schools don't qualify for PAC admission. I could be wrong, but does Nevada qualify academically for the PAC? Don't think they do..Cheers!

UCONN in the ACC-why hasn't that happened already?!

The Lobos to the Pac-12 makes sense, footprint in all 4 "4 corners" states. Add another 4 corner state or a team in NV, you can split east/west. Pac-8 teams v. 4 corners states.

Well back in 2011 the big ten had talks with Iowa State, Nebraska, aTm, Kansas, and OU on joining.

Right now I don't think Iowa State can get in unless some big ten schools and maybe Kansas advocates for us getting in. Bobby Knight wanted us in when he was at Indiana too.
