Doug Sirmons strikes again
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/wr...index.html

I had post traumatic stress disorder when I read this:

Worst call: You can argue whether an official should call the game differently with 0.7 seconds left than with seven minutes left. (I think he should.) But Doug Sirmons's call on UCLA guard Malcolm Lee as the Bruins were locked in a tie with Kansas was bad no matter how much time was on the clock. Instead of sending the game into overtime -- where it belonged -- Sirmons's ill-advised whistle sent Kansas guard Mario Little to the foul line, where he knocked down one out of two attempts to allow KU to escape with a 77-76 win.

How is this guy still allowed to ref? Hasn't he done this on multiple occasions?

Ref Stats

You can find stats and comments here about referees including Sirmons. You can rate them too.

He is the WORST official in college basketball at any level. The calls he makes in games both ways sincerely makes me question whether or not he is on the take or not. I almost believe that he is.

Excuse me, have you met Dale Ford? He sucks as an offical in baseball, basketball and football.

Dale Ford is still a ref? You gotta be kidding me. He was absolutely horrible back in the 70s and 80s, and I doubt he can see a whole helluva lot better now can he?

Don't think he's called any games in quite a while, probably a long while for basketball....

RE: Doug Sirmons strikes again
. I guess since Ford is retired he could have passed on the mantle to Doug Sirmons. But all time I have never seen an offical so totally incompetent in every sport he tried. Anytime I see a thread about "worst" offical I always have to point out that they will forever be 2nd. It is almost like he to many rules to try and remember and got confused. was that a walk or a balk... Holding #44.. I mean mm hand checking. lol

It was he who ejected Calipari today:

Sirmons ejects Calipari

I'm making no judgement, just pointing it out.

RE: Doug Sirmons strikes again
There are rumors that Cal did it on purpose to fire up his team and give them the spark they needed to learn how to stand on their own. Maybe he knew Sirmons was an easy target to use for that? I think Cal acted like a punk (and I'm a UK fan), but I've seen coaches act worse and not even get a snide look from the refs. Maybe it was the other way though. Perhaps SC fans paid him off, but that kinda blew up in their face.

I think Cal always acts like a punk, and I used to be a UK fan until they hired him.

But I do think that he did this on purpose, and I think it was a smart decision. Wouldn't surprise me if he had told the ref that he would do this before the game started.

I'd say Ted Valentine is also horrible. "TV Ted" they call him.

I can't believe this isn't everyone's pick. Didn't he call the bogus fouls on Mister against Oklahoma in the tourney years ago?

Apparently on the 2nd T he used a 12 letter word that started with "mother"...that will get you tossed every time. Which makes me also believe he did it on purpose as a motivational tool. Using that word, he knew exactly what he was doing.

Wow....I have never visited Murry Bartow on Twitter before. Thank you for the heads up. Fascinating reading into the mind of Murry. He writes much different than he talks.

Hmmm......long gap there between Jan. 2014 and Nov. 2015. Did something happen in that time period?

TV analyst is the perfect job. He is very good talking about basketball and he does understand basketball. He just couldn't teach it or apply what he knows very well. Theory v practice.

I did recently see part of one of the games he was doing this year, can't remember who was playing though. To be honest he's not bad at doing the color commentary.
