I don't think the P5 conferences really care about basketball attendance.
The reason it is such a hot topic locally is basketball is the primary revenue source for U of M athletics
We'll see...i doubt having 4k at home games is a great negotiations
Really doesn't matter. At 10k we would be right in the middle of the B12. At 7k, we're still in the top 2/3. Of a list of 10 priorities for B12 expansion, fan attendance this season would not make the list.

I don't think we have a weak fan base either. I think we have an exhausted and frustrated fan base. Memphis basketball has the name, money, and arena to be better than this
We have only beaten 4 teams with a .500 record this year.
This coach has only had 4 4-year players while here (Goodwin, Joe Jackson, Chris Crawford and DJ)
Wow, think about that for a minute...4 players here for 4 years...that's amazing...
Not too many drafted either which makes it alot worse
The fact that CJP/Bowen touted the good grades of the BB team (API, I think it's called). I guarantee you that none of the players that transferred - or didn't stay 4 years - graduated from the University of Memphis.
Your guarantee is wrong. Of the players who transferred, at least 2 graduated from Memphis - Tarik and Antonio. There may be others I'm forgetting. Carmouche?
Greater point is that, even in this day of college athletes transferring without a second thought, we've had too many transfers under Pastner. One a year may happen these days. But losing a whole recruiting class is not acceptable.

For the few Pastner pumpers remaining. The numbers don't lie. Go ahead and bash me if you want (I have been to every game and 2 road games), but this is very depressing. You obviously don't care about the school or athletic department. With additional lost ticket revenues, donations and other items it will cost over 4million per year to keep him
We have had home games with Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Cincy and UConn so far and we cant even average 6,000? wow
what numbers? you have not provided numbers...you gave a giggly little girls radio show opinion.
if you actually had some real numbers, I'd be interested in seeing them...but you don't
Get your thick head out of the sand.
or, you know, actually provide the numbers that you're talking about...I know facts are scary to some around here...we like rumors from the radio show of a giggly little girl and such.

Go to the games and see for yourself, damn building is empty. Pastner has and is ruining our basketball program to the point that most don't care anymore. It's called apathy.

Do you need a weatherman to tell you how many of inches it rained to know it is raining really hard? Attendance is way, way down, if you go to a game, a reasonably function person can look around and estimate the attendance is well, well below 10k. He is backing it up with facts, ie observable data. You arent arguing facts, you are debating sources (Vernon/parrish, or what posters are witnessing). If you need a trustworthy SOURCE that badly, go observe for yourself, I promise their are plenty of tickets available.

You're arguing just to argue. You'll get your wish soon enough. Calkins is pushing his request for actual turnstile data through.

Source: The Commercial Appeal did a story about a renegotiation of the lease, that reported a severe drop in both ticket sales and attendance.
Source: A local radio show (media) reported that the attendance sales were in actuality much lower than the CA story reported.
Source: Multiple People have consistently decried the lack of actual attendance at games.
Source: MY OWN EYES. As i have attended games, and have estimated the crowd.
So, a multitude of sources ALL same the same thing, and your argument is, we don't have any facts?

Did you see that huge crowd at Houston last night? The flagship?
But, this is pitiful. Whoever is to blame, it is pitiful.
true , most arenas in the AAc are sparse with a couple of exceptions

we do not have a weak fan base. we have a fan base much like that of 99% of other athletic teams. More people show up when you are good or give them something to believe in. I know that is shocking to some.
I don't think we are weak either, and I have long been a Pastner supporter. This year, for the first time in probably 30-ish years, I completely forgot about not one, but two games. One was Cincinnati, I would never have done that in the past. Hell, I rarely read the CA on line any longer.

we do not have a weak fan base. we have a fan base much like that of 99% of other athletic teams.
I 'forgot' about 2 also. Never done that before.
It's because watching is so painful....seeing the struggle that is going on on the court, I mean, not the losing as much as the struggle.

You two are just getting old and forgetful.
